Take this with a grain of salt, but this is what Smith told me this morning about the Bodyguard. Call and see if they tell you the same thing.
According to the person I talked to, anything with a EAD is good to go. Anything with EAA, EAB, or EAC can still be problematic weather it has the ring around the laser or not. The new frame was strictly for the laser issue. The fix for the take down pin was a newly designed pin and spring.
Some of the EAB's have the fix, some don't. So how do you tell. He said look at the end of your box. In the upper right hand corner of the label, it say's "SMITH & WESSON". If it has been highlighted with a pink marker, then that gun has been gone through and has all the fix's.
He also said that some of the problem's with the laser's are from guy's over oiling them, and killing the laser. Some, but not all.
That being said, I just went and put money down on one tonight. Sure enough, it had the pink marker on the box. But it is also a EAF. So I should be good. The laser was easy to work, and the trigger seemed fine. And trust me, I have been worried to death about the trigger's. When I got home I looked on gun broker. I was only able to find a few with a pic of the end of the box. I seen 2 EAE's. They had a yellow looking mark. I don't know if this is good or not. Seems like it would be. Maybe they ran out of pink marker's with all the BG's they're going through.
I seen 1 EAF, and I could just barley see a little pink mark.
So everyone go look at your box and put your mind at ease,,,or get worried I guess,,,lol.
I think I'll do a poll and see how every one's box is marked. Please vote. Also reply with what serial # you have if it is highlighted.
Here's one with the yellow highlighting.
