I ever have had extra money laying around I would buy the 460 xvr. Hang it on my wall and give myself a caveman grunt every time I walked buy it. There is always something about more power.

However practically speaking 44mag in a 629 all the way.

A .44 mag with a heavy hard cast bullet will do everything a .460 will without the recoil, noise and money.

Nope....not even close. At 100 yards the .460 with a similar weight projectile is still faster than the .44 at the muzzle and has twice the energy. Hard cast bullets are a good choice, but they are not covered in pixie dust and are not magical. I had and used a .45-70 Guide gun for deer and sold it after getting my .460. The PC X-Frame altho large for a handgun, still carries easier thru thick cover and is every bit as accurate as the Marlin rifle. It was also much more pleasant to shoot both in the field and at the range. The Marlin never got taken to the range for spits and giggles, the .460 always does. The Marlin was brutal to shoot, the X-Frame is a blast. I shoot more rounds thru my X-Frame in a month than I shot thru the Guide Gun the half dozen years I owned it. I took a deer this year with my .44mag 629. It's a great gun and a great cartridge. I was hunting in a stand in thick cover with the longest shot available under 75 yards. It is not, even with magical cast bullets, the gun I want when my shots can be over 100 yards.....the .460 is. I know this cause I hunt with both and shoot both at the range regularly. I also hunt deer with a .357 686, but I know and appreciate it's strengths and weaknesses also.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the responses. Looks like the poll numbers speak for themselves.
