What to do with a full size M&P jamming

It's become obvious that I won't get this problem resolved, I've quit getting even the automated emails. Must of upset someone.

I am going to order a extractor from Apex and install it.

Sorry for the siesta. I had an auto accident and got banged up.

S&W finally sent a return label and I am waiting for the FEDEX person to pick it up.

I appreciate all the help and messages with phone numbers to contact S&W.

Now, if I can just get my rebate check back. 3 months, 1 week I've been in the cue.

I'm sorry to hear you got in an accident. I trust it wasn't too bad.

I'm glad to hear you got the return label and your gun is going out. I hope S&W gets it all fixed up for you.

Stan and Rastoff,
I bought an M&P 45 midsize in August that was having exactly the same failure as shown in Rastoff's photo above.

I had to call S&W once to remind them about my shipping label. Later that day they accidentally sent me 3 labels. I think they are definitely have some issues with RMA tracking.

Anyway, I just want to report that once they picked up the gun they had it back to me in 2.5 weeks. S&W replaced the extractor on my gun to resolve the issue. I've put 250rds through it since it has been back and have not had an issue.

Stan, I bet your gun will run fine once they get it back to you. It sounds like you've been through a lot of back-and-forth with S&W but, don't give up on your M&P yet. I've been happy with mine now that it's running smoothly.

FEDEX called, the handgun should be delivered back to me on 29 October.

Any particular reason the handgun is coming back from Winsdor Lock, CT when I mailed it to Springfield, Mass?

Thanks.

That might be a FedEx shipping point. That would be valid if it was close to Springfield. It's always possible S&W has a facility there, too. I don't have a map handy so I can't tell you how far apart the two cities are from each other.

It's probably just a hub for FedEx. Who really cares where it's coming from as long as it's back?

The 29th? That sounds like two weeks on the nose door to door. Not bad.

The turn around time is excellent, if it works. Guess I'll find out tomorrow afternoon.

My full size started doing something similar with 185 grain ball at some 6k rounds. I figured it was the recoil spring, but sent it and all the mags back to S&W. Mine came back promptly and was fixed. Haven't had the problem again. Was shooting a 10-8 Performance drill when I experienced the problem.

The salesman at the base was very clear. "This gun leaves the base today and does not come back, ever. If you have problems with it, contact S&W. If you bring it back on base, you are subject to arrest."

If it's an AF base, call the base directory number and ask to be transferred to the Security Forces squadron. They're the LE agency responsible for enforcing firearm regs on post, and will be the ones to advise you what the local rules are. Each military base has distinct laws on firearms, so they'd know more about transport regs then the AAFES guy at the counter.

Phone SF squadron, and inform them of your predictament

I'm glad that you received good service. I have every reason to believe that your 45 will work just fine. Give us a report.

I have still to receive my pinky extensions for my 40C but it's only been a week & they're free so who am I to complain? I just e mailed CS at S&W, got a reply right back & was told they'd get shipped right away. I was even willing to play for one but he said there'd be no charge & he'd ship two.

Good news and mediocre news.

Good news is 100 rounds, 6 different mags, zero feeding issues.

Mediocre news: The new extractor is throwing casings everywhere. Some landed in front of me, a couple bounced off the overhead, some landed directly behind me, most landed at 4-5 o'clock.

Thinks I'll order the Apex extractor.

So now the ejection is sort of like a 1911, huh? ;)

As long as the feeding was optimal, and the empty cases were being extracted/ejected out of the gun (whether up, back or to the side, meaning not back into your chest or face), I'd leave it alone. Ammo power differences & fluctuations can result in that kind of ejection.

I have a TRP and can almost put a bowl down on the floor to catch the brass.

I had a couple go back over my head today. Think I'll bet the Apex extractor as soon as I get the extra $$.
