Anyone doing any specific accuracy or speed or other types of drills? What kind of shooting do you do with your gun?
I have been using mine for offhand shooting at 50 yrds with the 4moa red dot. Today I spent several hrs doing that shooting a 3-inch round steel swinger and a 4-inch round steel swinger. I went 92/100 on the 4-inch and 75/100 on the 3-inch. I find this type of methodical accuracy shooting very rewarding but would like to try routines used by others also.

I am just an old country boy, but I am impressed with your shooting at 50 yards if it is a handgun!

May I ask what weapon and caliber?

I set up a target at 50 yards, sit on a bench (and standing if the mood strikes me), take aim with my red dot and have at it.

Well since it's been so bloody cold and we've had so much snow this winter, I haven't been able to shoot anything long range.

I've been spending just about every weekend at the pistol range and I take my rifle with me, but there isn't much challenge at 50' with a rifle.

I have went through so much 9mm ammunition in the past few months it's scary :) and before that it was with my snub .357 but I just got tired of dealing with the insane recoil of my revolver and went with a Beretta (which I wanted anyway).

With the pistol I typically shoot 25' iron sight and I'm 1/2" or less groups and that's good enough for the Beretta's purpose in life..

I can't wait to get outside with the 15-22 and do some 100-200 yard shooting.

I do all types of shooting, from busting a few clays to some BR-22. Today I was out familiarizing myself with a .54 caliber T/C and sending 465 grain conicals down range with 100 grains of FFg.

Most of the time I'm shooting for groups testing ammo lots with my .22lr bolt action, working on my hunting load for my .30-06, and my most favorite thing, eating away the bullseye with my Model 14.

No, that was with my 15-22. I do shoot a lot of different handguns and rifles though. For a while there I was on a missions shooting my custom Bisley 44 Magnum 4-5/8" gun with 310-grain loads offhand at 100 yards. Got to where I could hit a 9-inch steel plate almost every time through out a 6-hour shooting day. Last year it was my 1911s in 45acp. I must have fired over 10k rounds of 45acp last year shooting IDPA, bullseye and just practicing. Went through a double-action revolver cycle a couple years ago with my 19-3 and 66-2, 2.5- and 3-inch guns.
Lately it has been semi-auto 22 rifles. Just cannot seem to put them down!

[lang=nl]Hi

In Holland I compete in games we call Dynamic Servide Rifle think you have a simalar disipline and doing it with a lot of fun.
You do a course with several stages which on every stage you to have to load and unload when you leave the stage so we don't do the course with a loaded gun.
I used to compete with a GSG-5 but swithced to S&W M&P 15-22.
Haven't shot a game yet but very excited to do so.
Maybe some people here have done simalar kind of competations and can share me some experiences.

we set up tac coarses for our 15-22s 60 - 100 yds long, shots never exceed 50 yds and there is 10-20 metal tagets hanging along the way that need to be hit with your primary weapon(15-22).. and at the end there r 5-10 metal targets to be hit with secondary weapon (pistol) its all timed and scored .. every one has a great time and we all learn a few things... and we never set it up the same way twice

Gophers are great for practicing quick aquisition:D

We don't have gophers in the Ozarks, don't know that I've ever even seen a gopher. Skunks and possums seem to make a dandy substitute for quick aquisition practice, though.

You have to be deadly accurate with a skunk too. If you don't get them right between the eyes you'll be dealing with the dreaded "death spray". That's why I use a green laser on them at night. When you see the laser reflect off one of their eyes you pop it to 'em right then.

Glad we don't have any of these around here.. They've been known to take a man down, from the ankles up! :)

hahahaha fun times

I primarily do tactical drills at a local indoor range at varying distances to 25 meters. I'm a member of the local Izaak Walton League and use their outdoor ranges (100m) when the weather permits.
