What was the First Gun you purchased for yourself?

A British Enfield (Mk IV I think, whatever what the last version) all original from the now long gone Joy Store in South Glens Falls, NY in 1994 for the sum of $75. Was very heavy, and a lot to carry around deer hunting, but it was super accurate.

My first purchase was a new Dan Wesson .357 with fixed sights and a six inch barrel in 1975. Couldn't hit a bull in the rear at five paces. Traded it for a new S&W Model 36 with 3 inch barrel which I wish I still had.......

A Mossberg bolt action magazine fed .410 shotgun. My first pistol was a Colt 1911 with a 22 conversion unit. Bought it at Sears for 125 total.

bought a winchester 30-30 at a garage sale when i was 17.
ditched school at lunch time on my 18th b-day, went straight to the gunshop and bought a marlin .22 mag. bolt action. don't think i made it back to school the rest of the week. but those rabbits and squirlls sure cought a good bit of grieff.

My 1st gun buy was also my 2nd all time best and later worst trade all wrapped up into one!
1952 or 1953 I am 11 or 12 years old. Had maybe $30 saved up from field work, christmass and brithday money. Some old neighbors died I belive were on some type county aid and everything was being auctioned off. I bought a beautifull hammerless double barrel parker 12 gauge shotgun for $21 dollars. Modern steel barrels, NOT damascuss! Today I suspect it would be worth upwards of 4 to 5,000 dollars! Thats the good part. Here is the bad. One day a gun trader pulled into the yard. He must have tracked me down. Explained that he was hitting all the farms in the area just looking for guns. My dad was at work, my grandpa was liveing with us and yelled at me, BOY, ya better not do nothing untill yer pa gets home! That cinched the deal for me! I had to prove I was smart and grown up. I traded straight across for some other old german hammer double barrel and a winchester model 67 .22 rifle. My dad got home from work after midnight, I could hear him roar, WHAT!, from upstairs. He came up and educated me! I learned a lot, early from that!

I can´t remember the price I paid for it but certainly it was outrageous.Even so I´m happy with my 28 years friend - a 6 inch bbl Colt Woodsman Match Target 3rd Model.Bought it in Sao Paulo 1981.It was made in 1956 when I was entering elementary school.
Regards , Ray.

Traded a RedRyder for a rusted shut 7 shot Marlin bolt action .22 in 1965. Bought a Model 19(first new gun) from Meltzer's in Garfield NJ as an I&A PO in 1977. Joe

Sawed off side by side 12 gauge for $15 in a back alley one dark and stormy night

Only kiddin'

First semi auto was a (new) Colt Gold Cup Nat. Match Series 70. Took me forever to decide between the .38 and .45 versions that the dealer had. I bought the .45 (I know, what a bonehead, right?)

First revolvers were actually two of them. Bought a 5" S&W Model 27 and a 6½" S&W 1955 Target. Damn expensive too - it cost me $300 to take both of those new guns home!

The Colt and the 27 have moved on to other owners, but I'm hanging on to that 1955, 25-2!

My first firearm purchase was a rifle, a .22 Marlin Model 70P (Pappose) it had a take down barrel, and fit in it's own carry case. I sold it a few years later to fund a Ruger Mark II Government Target Model .22

I had "aquired" several from when I was young, including a Marlin bolt action .22, an old 8mm Mauser, my Remington 870, and another old .22 semi-auto rifle. I do not remember what make it was, but it was a cheapo.

As an adult, the very first firearm that I purchased on my own was a .357 GP-100 with a 4" bbl. Great gun. It still gets a lot of use to this day.

I was roughnecking on North Slope of Alaska in 1970, turned 18 & bought a Ruger Super Blackhawk (?) .44 magnum. There was a bounty on wolves at that time. When I flew back to Denver at the end of summer I carried the revolver (unloaded) on board in my carry on back pack.

A Remington Nylon 66. I later traded it in on a NIB Winchester Model 12 12 ga pump gun when I was in high school. Still have the Winchester, wish I still had the Nylon 66 too.

Mine was a Fratelli Tangfoglio CZ 9mm copy bought in 1990. I still have it and it is in near mint condition. Probably one of the best shooting firearms I have shot. I'll never sell/trade it.
