What was your first Smith and Wesson??

Issued a 10-6 for the police academy, and bought a 3 inch 36 as a backup. A 36 was actually the first handgun I had ever fired, my uncles were almost all NYPD, and one of them worked at Red Bank when the "matrons" became officers. As officers they carried the standard sidearm and off-road duty revolvers, but before that they were issued the Model 36. The city sold them to department members for some really cheap price, and my uncle bought one. I know he spent less for his than I spent for mine!

Shortly after my 21st birthday, in 1982 I purchased a brand-new model 66-2 4". After a couple of months of irresponsible conduct with it. I came to the realization that I was not responsible enough to own it, so it was sold. I did not buy another gun until 29 years later in 2011. Coincidentally my second gun was also a S&W, but it was a 4513 no rail that started the ongoing addiction.

My first S&W was a 1917 that I carried as a reserve deputy sheriff. I was having a M27 converted to .44 Special that summer and sold the 1917 once the conversion was completed.

I still have it. Will be passed on to one of my kids.

Mine was a 1006. I was entranced by the magazine ads, and found a used one that had been fired "once" according to the seller. I still have some of the Norma ammunition that came with it.

parkerized SW model 10 , 4 inch with 130 gr FNJ USMC ammo on embassy duty in 1975. State Dept finally started issuing a few Model 19 2 1/2 bbl 357 mag for those working protection details. First one I actually bought with Model 57, 41 mag in 1976, still have it.

first that I purchased like a big boy was my 422... my first S&W was a gift from dad... 19-4 4 inch... still have both... would trade the both for 1 more range day with dad and my son.

A 1920s era M&P 6 inch. Also my first centerfire handgun. I practiced with it for a year before joining the local PD where I was duly informed that it was not authorized for duty carry (4" limit). I traded it and a Remington 870 for a 28-2 4". I've lost count of how many have passed through my hot little hands since.

My first S&W was a Model 28-2 4" Highway Patrolman that I bought back in the mid-seventies. I was looking for a Model 27 but Smith revolvers were scarce at that time frame back where I lived. It had a
bit of holster wear but was like new inside having been shot very little. I did eventually replace it with
both a new in the box M27 and a M28 after a long search. I finally found a shop that just had gotten a large order of new Smiths which was rare in the seventies.

The first Smith & Wesson pistol that I bought is a 2" barreled M15-3. I bought it from my brother-in-law when I was 18 back in 1972. The first S&W pistol that I owned is a 1917 Army model. I inherited that when my father died 7 days before my 13th birthday. I still have both of them.

A beat-up Triple Lock originally in .455 Webley, but converted to .45 Colt. In a moment of stupidity, I sold it to my (then) brother-in-law for too cheap. He subsequently traded it away for something dubious.

Odd as it may seem, a Model 52-2 from the Rod & Gun Club on the William O. Darby Kaserne, Nuremberg, Germany. It was the Seventies and I was under the delusion that would be my ticket to the 2600 club.

Model 64 bought new at a gun show in Virginia Beach. Still have it and still shoot it.

1968 shipped Mod 17-3, it's an early one as it still has "17-2" on the yoke. Lettered to a sporting goods store in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

My dad bought it from my uncle circa 1980 and I grew up shooting it (somehow it made it here to VA in the 1970s). Dad gave it to me as a 17th bday gift way back in 1998. I've shot the fire out of it and it's still I great shape and amazingly accurate.

My first Smith was a 4 inch Model 66 issued as a reserve. I was issued a different Model 66 when I started the academy. My first purchased Smith was a 3 inch Model 65 I bought as a graduation gift for myself upon completing the academy.
