Got a quote for close to $600 on a new M&P 9 (4.25" barrel). Is this a good price and for better lack of term, "pull the trigger" on this? I'm in NY, if that matters at all.

My shop was asking $569, said that the best you could do? Got it for $525. I believe MSRP is $569 so 6 bills is a little on the high side.

I've seen Cabelas have their carry kit in exclusive color for less then 600 and believe palmetto state armory has a kit for 539 right now. Apologies, am on a tablet so wasn't able to add the psa link.
I will add I have no clue on laws in other states so can't say if these would be approved up there.

Just bought mine last week, $499.99 with an extra 17rd mag for bonus. Also a Free membership to the local indoor range. (normally $200. a year)
And what a sweet piece!

OP - what model exactly? $600 seems kinda pricey.

I bought mine for $500 even at local Gander Mountain on sale last November, SKU #209301, standard 4.25" FS9.

I have seen them online for $450. I just picked up a m&p 9c for $300 from a guy I shoot idpa with. If you are patient you can find a really good deal if not try buds gun shop online

Nationalgunwarehouse.com

467 last I checked. Buds is great too...however, make sure you know the difference between the cash price and sale price..
If you buy online, always think about shipping....if they charge for it...and ffl fee.
600 is high. Do you have gun shows near you?

What GtownGeorge said. Bud's Guns. $441 cash(check/ money order), add 3% if you use a CC. Still a good price as they are showing Free Shipping. If a dealer charges you $30 for transfer, you are still under $500
Plan on getting a full size .40 w/ thumb safeties next week or 2.

Botach had them for $399 with tritium sights and three mags a couple weeks ago. Free ship and $50 rebate.... Do the math if you are patient enough. But it'll require shipping to FFL and a week or two wait.

Buds gun shop has free shipping on all new guns. Also have a low price guarantee.

Ranger17—I checked out palmetto and that is a great deal. Unfortunately, since I don't live in America, my state has a 10 round magazine limit (and you can only have 7 rounds in there—how stupid is that?).

The Midwest looks like they charge reasonable prices, I thought this was kind of high.

GttownGeorge, thanks for that info on budsgunshop.

Llando88—this is the standard 9 full version, I think it is the one you were referring to.

Dajogejr—Where I live, we have one of the most idiotic rules for getting a permit. One of them includes buying a handgun as part of the application process. Oh, and you can't handle the firearm either! And to answer your question, I am not sure if there are gunshows, I will have to look around for that. I think I'm going to go with Buds unless I can get a much better price on this. One thing if I do go through Buds is that if for some reason my permit gets denied (say for example the detective or judge not liking the color of my shirt) I don't think I can get my money back because here it can take possibly a year to get your permit…

I paid $515.00 for my M&P 9 4.25 in. Pro Series. This model has an improved trigger, better stippling on the back straps and night sights made by Trijicon.
I would say $600 is way over priced for a standard M&P.

OP, check to see if the one you were quoted on is a "Range kit" or just the standard M&P full size. If it is a range kit then you also get a third magazine, holster, mag holster, Uplula loader and ear buds. S&W says the additional items are worth an extra $120 and the price difference is about $50-$60 usually. If you do not need the holster(s) then it may not be worth it as the magazines are now easy to find. A year ago the range kits were more valuable due to the extra magazine as none were available anywhere.
Good Luck

Sounds like your LGS has a captive audience due to the local laws and they know it.

FWIW, the LGS where I work has M&P's for $499. Also, looking at the Distributor's website there is no price difference among the different state-specific models either. I'd try to find a different shop, but that's just me.

For $600 you can get the Range Kit M&P 9 which comes with 3 mags, a holster, and a speed loader. I think for just the regular M&P 9 somewhere between $469-500 is fair.
