What's going on with 3rd Gen magazines?

Looks like this thread doesn't garner much attention. That said, just wanted to update that the 1006 mag bodies arrived from Numrich. They're factory/original but had some light surface rust. The rust cleaned up completely with Break Free and stainless steel wool. Butt plates just showed up today (on Numrich - ordered today) for $1.75 - so now all I need are a couple of followers and buttplate catch assemblies. Looks like I'll have about $50 apiece into new-looking mags here in a few weeks ... :)
 
Probably everyone knows it already, but for the 4506 you can use any 1911 magazine, you just have to alter the magazine catch opening a bit.
It is on the you tube somewhere.
 
Went to the Berea show today,Sunday Feb.19. Picked up a couple 45 7rd mags. One of the clip/mag guys that I picked up one of the 45 mags from show me a couple 59 pre-bans.
S&W OEM mags in abundance(they were everywhere) were 59XX 15rd,69XX 12rd,40XX 11rd,and 45XX 8rd.

You might get a kick out of this: 12-round 6900 magazines at this weekend's MA show... $50 each. :eek: 3913 and 4013 magazines... $40 each. :rolleyes: Note that brand new 3913 magazines are on sale right now at MidwayUSA for $26.24 each.

No 10-round 5900 or 6900 magazines in sight. I asked every dealer selling magazines at the show and they all complained that 10-rounders are near impossible to find right now.
 
$40.00 for a 3913 magazine are Ebay stupid prices, not real world prices. Depending on which version of the 4013 it is, the magazines might be worth that, but since I'm not a .40 guy, I don't know what the market is for thos.

I have a bunch of pre ban 12 round 69xx magazines. Maybe I should list them at $45.00 on the local to me forum and see what happens.

I think that the problem with 10 round 59xx, 69xx magazines is that there are so few states where they are needed that no one is really interested in making them.

I'd bet that there were a lot of them tossed into the trash after the law expired since people in MOST states were able to buy standard capacity magazines even if they were marked "For military and LE use only".

You are right. That 4013 magazine at $40.00 was not a bad deal. Prices have come way down from their highs on that infamous auction site. $40.00 is about par for the course these days. It was the price on the 6900-series 12-rounders that floored me. :eek: And that was from a normally reasonable vendor with a good supply of them. :o

The thing with 10-rounders is that Commiefornia has now mandated them with no grandfathering allowed. That alone is enough to drain down the entire country's supply. I won't comment on the other moonbat states but I see demand for 10-rounders just going up, Up, UP! :(

I still see the letters "NY" in your location line so I don't think I would sell them just yet if I were you. ;)

All kidding aside, I do see some of the marginal moonbat states eventually following Commiefornia's lead... and I cannot discount the possibility that my own loony moonbat state might someday try to eliminate the grandfathering of pre-ban hi-cap magazines. :o Imagine the situation I would be in if that were to happen. :( It wouldn't be pretty. :rolleyes:

If there is enough demand, somebody will probably make them. Maybe S&W, maybe Mec-Gar, maybe Pro Mag :eek:.

About five years ago now, I bought some pre ban magazines at from an out of state vendor at a MA gun show. He had a bin of about a dozen for $25.00 each. Mixed in was one LE marked 12 round. I handed it to him and asked if he meant to put that one out. "No, that got in there by mistake." was the answer. He put it away and I bought four or so.

I probably have more than I need, but bought them against the day when no more were available.

Of course if I move out of the PRM, a lot of my pre ban standard capacity magazines will go up for sale.

It's a strange strange world we live in Master Jack....

When the 94 AWB was going into effect.... I decided it was a good time to cover my flanks......

while others in W. Pa. were pay $100 for hi-cap Glock mags......... I was buying.......................

$350.... 3913/14/NLs and $15-20 dollar magazines......... Beretta 92-Ms single stacks 8+1 and $15 mags at a local Police Supply House ...... and K-frame revolvers ...... and Safariland Comp I and II Speedloaders.......................

..... figured 6-7 8 round magazines or a half dozen speedloaders........ was better than "1" 15-17 round high-cap

There are already some third parties producing them, but everybody wants the "real thing" if they can possibly get it. :D

I must say that I'm in pretty darn good shape magazine-wise right now thanks in large part to some truly great forum members and a little luck shopping here and there. Sadly, one of my best local sources recently shut me off cold in favor of his bosom-buddy hunting buds. Ticked me off greatly but his shop, his rules... right? :( He's dead to me now. :o

My next challenge? :confused: Some P226 and CZ75 pre-bans. Maybe some Hi-Power pre-bans as well. :) Then watch you-know-who pull the rug out from underneath us with another new "enforcement notice" made up out of thin air. :rolleyes:

You should see what pre-ban Glock magazines are going for up here. :eek: :eek: :eek: It totally boggles the mind. :(

While the math of multiple magazines may make sense, the psychology of it doesn't. Who wants to go around with a full-size, half-capacity pistol? :confused: Especially knowing that the Godless miscreants out there are under no such moonbat restrictions. :mad:
