My friend received his new custom and very expensive AR 15 type 308 Win. caliber We took it to the range with to new boxes of ammo, Win and Rem 150 gr. 2nd shot blown primer, this was with rem. ammo, tried winchester, same results. Anyone know what's going on?

Is it always the second shot from the magazine, i.e., the first one loaded by the semi-auto action? If so, it sounds like there is a feed issue and you are getting bullet setback as the round is being loaded. You might want to check that the magazine is ALL the way in. IIRC, the mags on some AR10 rifles fit pretty tight and need a good shove up the magwell. Also, are these FMJ or softpoints. If SP, there could be an edge that is catching the exposed lead as the action attempts to feed the round. This can also cause setback.

If LVSteve is correct, it should be easy to verify. Load 2 rounds in a magazine, chamber and fire the first round, extract and save the unfired second round. Measure the length of the second round, and compare to several new rounds from the same box.

Thank you both, I will check these issues after I talk with the manufacture.
