Anyone know the going rate for 50 pc. Box of Hornady 44 Cal., 300 grain JHP XTP/MAG Bullets?

A store in my area has them marked $12.99 each box. I just wanted to know if this was a good deal or not. Thanks - J.Solo

That's the going price on MidwayUSA right now - so if you can do it without paying shipping it's pretty decent.

I just bought a 1,000 from these guys. Not Hornady but they should get the job done at a fraction of the cost. I bought a bunch of Hornady bullets when they were priced correctly. This demand has them twice the normal asking price.

You're aware that Berry's have a velocity limit, right?

>FAQ - How fast can I shoot these?
"Velocities depend on the caliber, but as a rule of thumb, we recommend you don't shoot our plated bullets over 1200 feet-per-second. Our 44's actually shoot best around 1150 fps. 45's are generally good at 850-900 fps. Our bullets are not recommended for magnum velocities."

Is separation a problem with plated bullets?
"Separation is very rare. Two things can cause a jacket to separate from the lead core: excessive speeds (magnum velocities) and a real tight roll crimp (cuts through the plating). If you'll keep these two items in check you shouldn't have a problem with bullet separation."<

Thanks for the info.
I have a bunch of virgin 44 special brass that needs loaded so I will load them up in those cases. I have plenty of Hornady bullets so I will use them for the hot loads.
Again, thanks for the info.
