Attended our local WAC gunshow this weekend, and have started to notice a few trends in the last 3 months shows. 4" K and N frames HOT. Snub nose revolvers HOT. Ammunition sales and AR -15 rifles are still kinda crazy of course. What's popular in your area right now?

In my area (or the shops I frequent) in central PA, just about everything except 1911's. Every shop I go into seems to have a bunch of them, new and used. Everything from Springfield Mil-Spec guns to the high end Nighthawk guns.

You cant get any common ammo around here except the over a buck bang stuff. an AR upper takes about 30 weeks.

Obama, gun sales<STRIKE>moron</STRIKE>man of the year.

I didnt renew my WAC this year, aint buying any crazy priced stuff and can get ammo easy enough elseware. I use to really enjoy the WAC......

Who's going to pick up my welfare check, and pay for my Cadillac?

There was lots of .223 ammo and some of it sold but lots of it didn't. I know a couple of 'Dealers' who had purchased in hopes of making a killing - OOPs!

I picked up some very reasonable .308 and a box of .38 S&W and one "vintage" box of .45ACP Match ammo and only the vintage .38 S&W was a bit on the high side but then I like this caliber and am close to having all I'll need for the rest of my days so paying a bit extra didn't bother me. I also got a good stash of .30 caliber ammo cans at an OKay price but then I use those myself since I figured out a few years ago that I simply "Shouldn't" be packing around the .50 caliber cans full of ammo any more! My back and arms and knees are making me pay the price for carrying all of those .50 caliber cans for just too many years!

good report, sounds like in a few months it might make since to head back.....prices looking to be stable or droping?????(cross fingers)

Sir, at the Tanner Show yesterday, a couple different vendors told us that ammo, reloading gear, and components were through the roof, but not as many guns were moving as in recent months.

Gun-wise, modern ARs (carbines, flat-tops, rails galore) were still hot, though not as much as right after the election. A buddy of mine had a couple SP-1 types on his table and wasn't getting any nibbles. More people than usual seemed to be buying riot guns. Handguns were generating a lot of interest, autos more so than revolvers, and short-barreled revolvers (4 inches and shorter) more so than longer tubes.

AKs and foreign milsurps didn't seem to be generating much interest--maybe because cheap ammo is hard to find. Hardly any of the higher priced items (SAAs, pre-'64 Model 70s, high-grade shotguns, etc.) were moving.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Ron H.

The high end collector stuff hasn't been moving for several months. The less expensive shotguns have been jumping off the tables. I think the EBRs are getting close to their limits.

KKG, Did you see the Model 19 (no dash) in 4" against the west wall? I was thinking about it, but waited too long. When I went back someone had bought it. Nice early .357 revolver.

What were they asking for it?

When I looked at it they were still trying to decide how much to ask. I heard that it might have have a 1K price tag at some point but I doubt that was the selling price. It was nice but all it was was the gun. And, 1K would have been totally out of line for that Show. There were a couple of very nice Smiths there but nothing I couldn't live without and several I would have looked at a bit harder if they had been priced a bit lower - say 2 or 3 hundred. There was a reasonably price .38-44 along that same wall but I just don't get real turned on by those guns for some reason so they have to be 'cheap' or they're not of real interest to me.

BTW the WAC Shows are a real if you snooze you loose kind of show. If I like something it either leaved with me or I don't both to go back.

It was priced at 500 when I looked at it.It had a chip missing on the diamond target grips at the trigger guard, and the finish at less than 90%. heard it sold for 450.
You are definitely right about snooze, you lose. The best deals are scooped up in the first hour of the show! The last two Smiths I bought at the WAC show I felt were good deals and were both purchased before 9 AM.

Lots of sales also get made during the set-up time on Friday - pretty much all day - or Saturday or Sunday morning before the doors open to the general public.
