What's so super about 38 super?

38 Super

Hi All,
Here is my favorite 38 Super
It is a Lwt Commander that came through the custom shop.
Has a special trigger installed there and has low profile Bo-Mar Adjustable
night sights, also installed by the Colt Custom shop.
The trigger is has to be tried to be believed on this gun, 2.5lbs on my Lyman scale and no takeup.I think it is almost scary for gun that could be carried. The story I was told is that it was ordered from Colt a few years ago money was put down on it but it was never picked up.
I bought it from an FFL in Texas. I also got a NIB Model 52-2 and a High Standard Citation Trophy at same time.

The Super can also do well with loads which the 9mm and .357 Sig do not do so well with. With a 148gr. LSWC bullet I've gotten loads out at 1250 fps with no signs of high pressure and good accuracy. 158 gr. LSWC loads have done in the 1190-1200 fps vacinity from a 5" barrel.

As mentioned most commercial ammo is loaded in the 9mm vacinity. These loads aren't bad just low powered for the Super. Double Tap and Cor-Bon both offer loads that begin to show some of the Super's potential. If the local gunatorium does not have much ammo for the Super the ammo is just a mouse click away.
