What's the deal with Tactical Rail Lights

True...but in this case, I think the average person will do better with a gun on his light in a bad situation than with it in the other hand. The latter requites much more training to get good at it...:)

And it just gives the shooter more to fumble with.

I trained for using a pistol w/o a light source attached, but my AR and home defense Mossy 12 guage both have attached lights.
 
When I took deputy sheriff's training many years ago we were told to keep the light away from center mass of our body as it made a good "target". I still believe this, and keep any light off my firearms.
 
I bought a set too. While they do work well, they are definitely not impact resistant. A very light bump while changing batteries has already disabled one of them. Hook one of these up to a 12ga and it would probably only work for the first shot.

These are *flashlights*, not firearm accessories.

I was only pointing out that you can get decent lights for much less. You must have got the cheap Chinese made version:D

I have dropped mine on a concrete floor and it works fine. Even if they do self destruct for the price I do not care, That's why I like them.
