The old Winchester or Remington slide action .22s at the Playland Amusement Park shooting gallery in the 50's. We spent a LOT of time there well before I was 9 yrs. About the same time he let me kill a stump in the back yard with a long barrel Navy or Artillary Luger that was the only gun in the house.
Sad, but it was my grandpa and it was his single shot bolt action .22 rifle. I have it now. My dad hunted and shot skeet but never took me out to shoot or even teach me how to handle a gun. In high school I took a gun safety class and was to bring a rifle or shotgun to class to shoot at the end of it. Dad let me take a 20ga shotgun but didn't even explain how to load it or handle it.
Must have been a K-22. I was only about four years old but I do remember it was a .22 revolver and he only had Smiths, so... It's a great memory and I still like them Smiths just fine.
My dad never let me shoot anything. When I was 11 my dad decided I was old enough to be punched in the face and beaten like a grown man for indiscretions.
He did have an LC Higgins shotgun, and a High Standard .22LR that fell to me and my brother after he left about a year later.
