Whats the latest full size M/P 9 mags

What is the new follower type in the latest full size M/P 9 . I did get the MP 9 L/E package some time ago , 3 mags and night sights with the black PVD finish . The mags had white followers with black stripe I picked up some new in package mags and they are a real light gray . which are newest type or upgrade ?????????

I did pick up a new mag today and this guy has a big turn over and gets new stuff all the time and it is gray on that one . Must be gray then Thanks .

IIRC there are now 3 generations of M&P follower. The 1st gen was black, the 2nd gen light grey, and the 3rd gen also light grey. But there are construction difference between the 2nd and 3rd gen.

rgerh913 has an excellent pic showing the difference. The newest version is on the far left.

The ones I bought last week were gray. The first round is a little stiff to start. I mean, no trouble, but you notice it between other mags and those.

I've bought about 8 new mags in the past year, no problems and gray followers. New 2.0 has the gray follower as well, no issue there either. Any 3rd party luck? I wonder if Magpul will ever release a Pmag for the M&P.

My newest mags bought have a light gray followers. The L/E package full size M/P 9 with the fact kind of flat black finish PVD 3 mags , night sights came with gray and a single black stripe up the middle .

Geez now I need 6 new followers. All mine are the OE version in spite of the gun being bought about 12 months ago and the additional mags since. BTW is that pic correct? there were two versions released only 3 days apart?

I take it that the newest is gray . The L/E package guns I have are light gray with a black sharpie streak that the fact inspector made , maybe just to be sure gun ships with new type .

The color is irrelevant. It's the shape that's important. Look at this:

Notice the square corner on the one on the left. The rounded corners were not engaging the slide stop properly. The pic is of the .40S&W mags, but the issue is the same.

So, just be sure your mags have a corner that engages the slide stop solidly. Remove the slide and see what it looks like. Like this:

So now I know why my magazine would not lock open sometimes after the last round was fired. Anyone know if S&W is sending out free replacements?

This could be one reason or it could be something else. Even so, yes, S&W will send you new mag followers. Just call them. They sent me 6 for free.
