What's the SMOOTHEST DA revolver you have?

Of the several S&W revolvers I have the 28-3 is just unbelievably smooth. I had Murray Charlton do some work on it. It has all stock springs in it and is just unreal. Sadly Murray has retired and closed his shop down. He was the only gunsmith that I know of in Canada who I would trust any of my S&W revolvers to.

Best trigger I've ever had on a revolver is on this 1982 vintage 3 inch S&W Model 13-3 that I recently gave to my son-in-law. It never had a trigger job, just lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of rounds through it.

For smoothness, as opposed to lightness, my best DA revolver pull happens on an old mid 1970's vintage M-28. N-frame cylinders have more polar moment of inertia about the ejector rod, especially M-27's and M-28's with smaller chamber holes. More of the DA pull effort is devoted to spinning the cylinder on these guns and less to the rebound slide and hammer. Lot of mechanics there, but that's my theory why this particular wheelgun DA cocks so smoothly. Also, a narrow non-target trigger masks minute discontinuities in the force-distance curve. I have an example of very nearly every numbered S&W and my old M-28 is the smoothest of all, smoother than my Colts as well. You can really feel the difference when SA cocking. That big cylinder almost spins itself once you get it turning.

Tonight I was shooting a Bullseye match and had to borrow some 38 rounds for my Python Target for rapid fire. It only sets off Federal primers when shooting double action, with a 7.5 # pull.
. I forgot to ask, but my line mate had used CCI primers. This was the result. 3 rounds fired on 11 trigger pulls.
I do think it is pretty smooth. My 625-8 JM may be smoother, but with 4" barrel is harder to control.
EDIT_i finished up single action. If I get the video, I'll post it.

All three have very smooth triggers but the top one, a 629, has the best. It actually has the best trigger of any firearm I have ever used. There is no reason as to why as it was just a regular factory new 629. I've been asked who did the trigger work as many attest that it has the best action that they also have ever used. You got me.

At a certain point, they just smooth out to glass. I have several like that, both new and old.

Recently I have been pleasantly surprised by the M625 PC I just got, which has a pretty remarkable trigger for a almost new recently manufactured gun. It compares favorably to the best triggers I have. I like the trigger enough that it pretty much offsets how ugly I think the gun is.

But the gun that got me back into revolvers after a many year break is a recent manufacture 637, which has an utterly beautiful trigger.

I'd have to say my Model 28-3, but prior to my getting it, it was owned a an older friend who used to shoot competition with it so it had some trigger work.

My next up would be my Model 19 that I bought used off the shelf back in '87 and was my first duty gun.

Here's mine, a well-worn 15-2. It's been carried and holstered a bunch, but still has no end shake, no push-off, spot-on timing. DA is unbelievably smooth. All my Smiths are smooth, but this one is in a class by itself.
