Has anyone else noticed the ad against the so-called "gun show loophole" posted, apparently, by Mayors Against Illegal Guns?

What the Heck is this doing on the S&W forum?? This group was founded by Michael Bloomberg--mayor of NYC--and is one of the most virulently anti-gun organizations going. Doesn't belong here, imo.

That ad is paying the bills and keeping the lights on. I would assume it isn't a very effective ad, and that it is a waste of the advertisers budget. The best thing you can do is to click on the ad, that generates revenue to the forum and costs the anti's more money.

Wow - selling yourselves for 30 pieces of silver? Whoring yourselves out for a bit of profit? Where's the self-respect?

Wouldn't it send more of a message to refuse to run their propaganda, money be damned? I wonder how many people log on here for the first time, maybe ready to be convinced to come to our side, and end up being swayed by that xxxxxx ad?

Google Ads selects the ads that run, NOT the forum. We get what they put up. Just by mentioning the Ad you increase the chances of it running again. I dont know about you but I am grateful as heck for Handejector footing the bill for us and if he can save/earn a little to help defray the costs MORE POWER TO HIM.

this has been covered any number of times in the past...ads help cover expenses here...to my knowledge you don't pick and choose the ad variety....course if you want to write a nice check and foward...if it's a big enough check and comes regular enough perhaps the ads will no longer be needed...ready to write?:eek::eek:

Very few people who visit this site are likely to be persuaded by their message, I would guess.

I agree--The Mayors Against Guns group is wasting money on this site, and putting that money into the hands of pro 2nd Amendment group (this forum). Plus every dime spent here is one less dime spent on advertising that might accidentally end up reaching a viewer dumb enough to fall for their line.

Sounds like 2 wins for the good guys to me.

Dave,

You can learn why you see those ads by reading the below link, or by clicking in the lower right hand corner tab of the ad banner marked "Ads by Google".

https://www.google.com/adsense/supp...doorshootingsports.com&adT=Uselton+Arms&gl=US

Here's a short clip from the link.

"[[What are Ads by Google?

Ads by Google appear throughout the web on sites that use Google's AdSense program to show ads. Sometimes the ads we show you are based on the content of the page you are viewing. Other times, the ads are intended to reflect your interests which are based on the content of the webpages from participating websites that you've previously visited. Visit the Ads Preferences Manager to learn more and customize which interest-based ads you see.

If you'd like to provide feedback regarding the site or ads you just saw, please let us know.]]"

I believe you are doing the forum a disservice if you don't check out the ads. Every click makes the forum money (tiny but...)

Fair enough. I do want to support the forum, and I by no means blame the owner for placing ads. For my part, I've no more interest in viewing ads online than I do in viewing ads on TV.

I support the forum in my own way by bringing myself to the site, and trying to post some interesting content from time to time.

But now we're thoroughly off topic...;)

Actually, I'm glad this was posted. I didn't know that the site got $ when an add was clicked.
I'll start doing that regularly.

Am I completely out of the loop or what? I've never seen the ad, but I'd like to. Especially if clicking on it costs them money. They'll just think we're interested in their message and continue to advertise. Good for them. I support their right to express their opinion even if I don't agree with it. Plus, it helps to know what the other side is doing. "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer".

Uh-oh.
Time to put an IQ test into the registration process.

Doesn't belong here????
Riiiighttttttt..............
As others have pointed out, I'm sure all our members have rushed to donate to them, and are dialing their Congressmen as we speak, demanding the loophole be closed.

Of course, since they paid Google for a specific number of presentations of that ad, the presentations made here probably won't get them much for their money. Now, if that finite, specific number of paid-for presentations was made completely on other boards that are not gun oriented, they would possibly be more effective.

Say what?
Judas......whoring....self respect.

Tell ya what- try to get the brain speed up to sabre speed, QuickSabre.

You have at least a week to look around the net and see if you can find a board with an Admin willing to take this swill from you while providing you a free venue to insult him on. Have fun.
