What's with people trying to run up their post counts?

So...Hey! Hi! What are we doing here? Hello to all the NOObs on the forum. Did someone say something about a prize of some kind for posting on this forum? I guess I need some way to increase the number of my posts. Anyway...what are we doing here...I came in late in the thread....
 
Well, I welcome new members because I think that is cool and what we ought to do. I'm also retired and spend a ton of time up here on this forum and a couple of others. I thought the idea here was to transfer information and to be able to learn things and help people when you have information that can help them.

Anyway, I like the forum and the people up here. I've made several friends up here, bought several guns through the classified and I think this is a great group.

I'm lookin' in the rearview mirror, and it looks like Y'all are closin' fast. By the 5,000th page, someone will have passed me by! :) Or they will if I stop posting to this thread. But I haven't.

One more Welcome just so you feel at home. What's the big deal with post counts anyway? I never thought about it until this post. Is their a prize for who ever gets the most? Anyway Welcome, Welcome, Welcome. Do you feel at home yet?
