What's with the dirty looking triggers?

Good case color, with it's hues of blue and gold, is just a hallmark of the gunsmiths' art. The newer stuff with the MIM just doesn't look as good.
IMHO.

I like it!

Hey now, I said LOOKS like its begging to be polished ;)

Thanks to those who educated, not berated!

I hope you didn't take anything seriously or personally.
I think I speak for everybody when I say the "berating" is not personal and is all in good fun. ;)

If you follow the link in my second post (post 15), you'll see, after what I did to my gun, that I'm nobody to judge anybody. ;) :D

I like the looks of a good color case hardening job. I wonder what my 66-2 would look like with a CCH trigger and hammer. Hmmmm........

Probably something like two of mine.

And in case anyone is wondering what a 686-3 might look like...

I only have two stainless S&Ws without color-casehardened hammer and triggers. Some came that way; others were converted.

Newer guns probably sport MIM triggers and hammers. It kinda' looks like case hardened steel, but without the color patterns. Perhaps more like carbon-nitriding after a session in a tumbler. MIM is very hard and durable. A competent gunsmith can stone the sear without breaking through the hardened layer.
