I'm a huge fan of the .41 Long Colt. Shooting this round out of my Army Specials gives me great pleasure. Power with low recoil, wish it never went away. What's your favorite obsolete or obscure ammo and what gun do you shoot it with.

I have two:
For rifles, the .303 British (I hope that's obscure enough!) which I shoot in a variety of surplus rifles.

For handguns, the .455 Colt (Aka .455 Webley Mk I)

.38-40 and .25-20, aka 38WCF and 25WCF. Both fun rounds, impressive in their day and still performing today. The .38-40 is in a pair of Ruger Vaqueros. It is a pain to handload them, so the 40S&W cylinders get used more often, but the cartridge looks so cool. The .25-20 is in a Model 92 rifle made in 1927 with a pristine bore, very accurate for cowboy lever action silhouette.

7mm mauser in a model 98 mauser rifle.
Nice flat shooting round in the best bolt gun ever made.

years ago I was playing with 7.5x55 Swiss in one of their straight toggle pull pre-WW1 military patterns-got some great 100 yd groups; and 38x55 in a single shot Stevens Mod 44 that was spectacular!!! All day long into a pop can size at 100 yards.

Buddy had a 218 Bee I liked too.

Had a 1911 converted to 38/45acp by an old gunsmith who sang its praises. I never developed much interest in it though.

Does 17HMR count?

Decisions, decisions!
It would be a toss-up between the 297/230 Morris Long Short Body and .577/450 Martini Henry.

The .577-.450, of course.

How many Zulus, Afghans, Mahdists, etc. did the 297/230 subdue?

And what model M-H do you have?

M1898 .30-40 Krag rifle and it also shoots a .32S&W short with an adaptor.

I have a Martini cadet in .310! Neat round. I even found a guy in Australia who makes molds for a flat nosed heel based bullet for it.
