My favorite is my M15-6. Wad cutters shoot very well with this gun..

If barrel length is not an issue regarding a holster being too long while seated then the model Masterpiece/14 would be my choice. If the barrel needs too be shorter then the Combat Masterpiece/15 would be the one. Better target revolvers cannot be had, period, in my opinion.

This one. My old city-issued (LAPD) model 67, wearing the original Pachmayr stocks I bought for it in the old Pachmayr store in downtown LA. It's been back to S&W for a bead-blast and an action tune since I retired. My daughters love this one for Saturday range days.

I'll put in another vote in for 67 no dash! I have an early one with the all stainless rear sights.(1973) Bob

My preference would be a .357 so you have a double-duty gun if you ever want to use it for something more than targets (you never know). And my preference for a .357 would be a 4" or 6" Model 66. For range work by a young or slightly-built shooter, they are less bulky than an L-frame gun.

My favorite target ".38" is a 6" Model 66-2 with target trigger, target hammer and a Millett rear sight. I would love to have the integral red ramp front sight replaced with a pinned Patridge but I hate to permanently alter an out-of-production gun.

A classic 6" Model 14-2.

Although....I have an old 4" heavy barrel Model 64 that is just as "precise" but not as accurate because it shoots a little below point of aim with its favorite target load. But groups from that gun are just phemonenal.

The most fun one has to be a 2" Model 15. If they have a reputation for being more accurate than expected, this one lives up to it. But it sure demands good sight alignment, concistent hold and follow-through technique!

I'd also say a Model 67. Mine is a 4" -1 and it makes my crappy shooting skills look good!

.38

My 67-5 PC K Comp with 3 inch barrel. I would put it up against any .38 ever made in terms of accuracy. The thing has the recoil of a .22 and it is scary accurate.

By far my 2" 15-3! Bought it unfired but HAD to run a cylinder through it after I slapped on a Tyler T. From 25 yards and 3 cups of coffee in me kept them all on a 10" paper plate. Pics coming.

If it's a target revolver and maybe doing duty as a home defense weapon it would be hard th beat the K38/ Model 14 revolver with 6 inch barrel. If you want a 4 inch barrel I would go with a Model 15 or Model 67 with the latter being stainless.
