What's your "Go To" HD firearm?

HD GUNS

A Sig 226 9mm with night sights, 15+1 of federal 115 gr hydrashoks in a holster in the headboard behind my pillow, a Sig 220 stainless 45acp with nightsites, 8+1 230 gr hornady xtp's in a holster fixed to the bottom of my box spring, and a Beneli sbe 12 ga with extended mag, chamber empty & starting with 1-2 turkey loads, then some 00 buck, then Dixie tri-balls, in the corner if I feel hinky. maglight (killight) flashlight, landline & cellphone.

Right beside me in the storage compartment of my recliner a 681 with 158 grain hard cast SWC. In my wife's office, her Charter Arms undercover loaded with 110 grain Silvertips. In my office next to her's (we work at home), might be anything in there, but always a Ruger Security Six and an LCP in the drawer. My pocket carry model 38 airweight bodyguard goes in the kitchen drawer when I'm home. My Glock G19 which is my edc piece is on the nightstand when I go to bed. Dresser across bedroom has my Model 64 NY-1 with 158 grain swc +p. Bathroom closet, S&W 3000 12 gauge with 00 Buck. Model 3913 in drawer in dining room next to front door. In the safe in master bedroom, S&W AR 15 loaded and ready with an ACOG with Docter mini red dot on top. Oh, and there is a loaded Makarov in one of those nifty Russian holsters that attach underneath the desk in my wife's office, too.

Go to gun

I'm feeling a little undergunned after reading all these replies.

All I have close by is a Model 60 with no reload most of the time. Five for sure is all I got - maybe I'm too complacent.

Got two noisy dogs though! One's a big Lab, she'd eat anyone up that busted in.

First I'd go for my MG-42, if they can get past the barbed wire and the guard towers...

Seriously though,

586 no dash for my lovely wife.

M&P9 for me.

Leaned over the side of the bed for the photo:

FN SLP 12 guage w/Surefire X300 Ultra 500 lumen light loaded w/Winchester PDX1 segmenting slugs alternating with Hornady Critical Defense 00 buckshot).

Not pictured:

Depends where I'm at. Bedside gun is a CZ-75B in .40 S&W.

Closest at hand right now is a Mod.37 velcro'd under my computer desk.

First grab will be for the Taurus Judge on my nightstand with SD & 45LC loads and Crimson Trace laser. Lots of other guns stashed everywhere. Most of the handguns have lasers.

Various stuff stashed around the place and two 'old friends' at bedside. My Australian red heeler and a "T" series BHP. I trust them both with my life.

Handguns are great, but there's nothing quite like a Remington M870 12 gauge with an extended magazine and 00 Buckshot for home defense. That's my go-to in the home. The Handguns are for back up.

M&P 9 with 124 gr +P HST or an AK under folder with 20 rounds of 122gr JHP. I prefer the 20 rounder to start, as it's cute and cuddly. I don't do drums and the forty rounders look so serious. I run the M&P 17+1 and the AK HDEC with a loaded magazine. It only takes a heartbeat to rack it and the safety isn't at all convenient with the stock collapsed.

I usually have several convenient options around the house but this is my usual night stand gun. Need a new rail light for it but night sights work just fine. If I run out of bullets its always good for crushing skulls

A 3" Model 624 is the main HD gun.

As for a guard dog...

I wouldn't call him "vicious" but I saw him bite clean through a doughnut once :)

If he's like most of the wolfhounds/deerhounds and related breeds that I've seen, he might knock them down giving them a big sloppy kiss!

XDm 9mm with streamlight TLR-1 will be next to me whenver I'm home unless my LCP is in my pocket. Shotgun is in safe loaded with door open at night but I'd be grabbing my XDm.
