What's your "Go To" HD firearm?

Home Defense starts with an Alarm system, signs in the windows and front yard.

It definitely goes up from there, exponentially.

Hollowpoints. Lots of hollowpoints. Open the biometric safe when i go to bed and close it when i get up.

Hopefully the noise will scare them off as the SC has ruled the police have no obligation to protect you. It's been discussed on the forum before with links to the ruling.

For me also it's what I'm carrying at the time, and usually .45acp Kahr gotta love big holes, at the moment can't leave things out, have grandkids around right now, but am well prepared. I have also had a discussion with the sheriff after a B&E in the barn, insurance co say's It's not a garage because it's not connected to the house and tractors are in there, when asked about force I could legally use, his answer was I can't tell you that but "He wouldn't leave my residence standing"

75 lb. dog (Pit bull / Cur mix) alarm system.

S&W 340PD hidden near front door.

Colt 1911 .45acp in bedroom.

I have a S & W 40 cal and the wife has a Target Masterpiece (in our night stands). We each chose our own. Plus a boot knife and large Mag-Lite in my drawer.

Downstairs, a S & W 1917 and a 4" model 28. Upstairs a 1911 Officer model.

Model 19, 4 inch, with Crimson Trace laser, with 38+p Speer. A gun that I know that I can absolutely count on to work when I need it to.

You deserve a medal if you make it up my stairs and down the hall. At the top will be an fnx9 with the slide locked back and possibly a m1 garand with 2 or 3 enbloc clips on the floor :p

As I live out in the boonies and help assuming we can call (phone lines can be cut and we are in a no cell area) I have two weapons quite close. Even if can call response times way out here could easily be 20+ minuets so we are well prepared!.

One is a Mossie 12G 590 9 shot loaded with 5 00buck with 4 slugs to follow. Also have a hicap 9 that both my wife and I can reach. Basic plan is I grab the Mossie she gets the 9. These weapons are relative quick to reach, but best bet any problems are going to be in the middle of the night and at that point easy to acquire when in bed.

In case of a known problem (escaped prisoners, cops searching our area for bad guys) there will be a hicap AR clone available also. Of course extra ammo is there for all HD guns!

Head of the bed, M10-5 with the Remington FBI load. When I'm sleeping, my EDC 640 with the same load is four feet away on the dresser. During waking hours the J is in reach or on me.

If things really start to go to hell in the neighborhood I have an elderly 12 gauge double sawed to 20 inches and a supply of #4 buck that I can retrieve.

My dog is good at warning me if someone's at the door; but lacking thumbs, he can't shoot very accurately.

I'm not worried.

Model 66 snub and Rem Marine Magnum in the bedroom. Other guns placed elsewhere in the house. Yes my wife thinks I'm paranoid but that's because they've not been needed yet.

M1A SOCOM, Colt Combat Commander, 640 and Surefire 6P.

Now that I found a Colt Rail Gun, that might go on the stand since it can take a light.

Probably been done before, but I'll ask again anyway.

No time to open the safe and break out the SAW (or AT-4), no time to find the one (maybe) buried in the couch, no time for anything but the one you keep out just in case.

For me, it's a Glock 22 with night sights and a SureFire light.
Not fancy, not really my best choice for those unannounced guest, but it'll work till I can fight my way to a rifle.

Glock 23 with night sights and a TRL2 with laser :-D. Always has been always will be my bedside gun.

12 GA pump, followed by a Glock 20. The wife has a 20 GA and a 6906.

Beretta PX4

It's the most natural "pointer" for me of all the guns that I own.

I figure that I want what's "most natural" in a situation that is "unnatural".
