What's your "Go To" HD firearm?

This is my Gock 21. It's a full size .45 auto. For PD I load with either 230gr Speer Gold Dot or 230gr Hornady Critical Defense. It sleeps on my night table when at home and rides with me in the console of my F-150 on road trips. I generally carry it's little brother, my G36 (compact .45) IWB, OWB or shoulder depending upon weather and situation.

Model 19-5 4" on the night stand with a Stoeger M2000 in the window sill behind the curtains. As has been said here already I also have a 442 stashed away in the bathroom because nothing would be worse than someone breaking in while I was in the shower.

A Ruger SR9c. It is what I train to carry, so I figure that is the best weapon for me to pick up for defense.

I keep some .38 spl hollow points handy in case I need my model 10 in a pinch.

For us it would really depend on what part of the house we're in. If you are talking a bump in the night my go-to is a Hi Point 9mm carbine and my wifes is a S&W 6906. Being in other parts of the house when the incident happens may result in grabbing a 38 Special, 380, 40 S&W or 22 mag rifle. We're not really paranoid, it just kind of sounds that way.

Nice,same here with the 995TS Carbine!4 10 round magazines loaded with Hornady Critical Defense.I have a few of the ProMag 15 rd magazines,but I don't really rely much on them for home defense.We also have a security system with a warning sign outside as a deterrent.The Hi-Point Carbines do get a bad rap among some gun communities ,but mine has worked flawless and eats up every kind of 9mm I have fed it.

To unbrkn: is Detroit still considered part of the US? The pictures that have been showing on TV and in the newspapers about Detroit make it look like post WWII in the cities of Germany, plus you have the added attraction of a high crime rate. I think if I lived there I would be doing my best to find a way to move out.

That's the plan, but you can move out of the city but the city can also move. More "Detroit Crime" actually happens in the Metro areas(since people who live outside of the city actually report crimes.)

My current nightstand gun is a Glock 23 with TFO sights and an extra mag. I have had it since 2004 and it has been 100% reliable during that time frame. My home alarm is "Chopper", he is my five pound, long hair Chihuahua. Has ears like a deer and a bark like a chainsaw.

Since I had an attempted home invasion about a year or so ago, I also have a HK USP .45, a Glock 19 and a GP100 in different locations around the house. I will not get caught unprepared again.

There was a home invasion about a half mile from my house about a month ago. Long story short, the homeowner unloaded a Glock 17 on them. One was mortally injured but made it back to their getaway car. His fellow perpetrator dumped his lifeless body at a animal hospital about a mile away. The good guys won that time.

I don't remember the exact quotation, but when Randy Johnson was asked what he did for home defense, he said a kept a bucket of baseballs near his bed. He said he wasn't sure if he could hit somebody by firing a gun but he had proven time and time again that he could do it with a baseball!

My Mossberg 590 holds 8 but I keep 6 in the tube...2 #4 Buck followed by four 00 Buck...slugs in side saddle...i don't load it all the way in case I need a slug to begin with...

BTW, I just took off my 2+2 speed feed stock 3 days ago and put on a Hogue 12" LOP...much handier and quicker to shoulder....and a side saddle works much better for me than that speed feed stock....
