When considering the purchase of a gun, who's approval do you need?

NOBODY'S!!!
Been married for 15+ years...........but left my mama a daddy's house a long time ago. Any grown man (or woman) that needs permission for something........ah, never mind.

If the finances are OK... then its a go.
I dont lie to her, or try to sneak around.
And she likes to go with me to get it.

NOBODY'S! This...is Sparta!

Bought my wife a flattop Ruger .44 Magnum for Christmas the year before we got married. The most recent gun she bought--with her own money--was a nickel plated USFA SAA in .45 Colt.

May it always be thus.

The only rule my wife has is that the bills are paid and there is food in the house. Although these days with the baby there seems to be more bills and I am spending more money on food.

I expect her to be reasonable in spending on her hobbies. She expects me to be reasonable for mine. It just happens that my hobbies cost more than hers.

It generally works out.

The only approvals I need is a confirmed TICS (Tennessee Instant Check System) and the quick glance at the check book. As unique as my last name is, there are not many of us in the USA. The only time I have had a "Hold" placed on a sale was when the FFL got the spelling of the last name wrong while calling/keying in the info on the buyer (ME). Other than that, I don't need anyones approval before I buy a new toy. I guess that's one of the benefits of being single.

Ah..for this I revert back to my learned wisdom as taught from a very wise old man...."Son, please remember that it is always easier to ask for forgiveness, than it is to ask for permission". Just be reasonable.

If I ask, "May I spend $XXX?" the answer is either, "Yes," or "We don't have $XXX right now". I've never been asked, "What for?" Since my wife does all the household accounting, it's fine with me.
(I describe it to my friends as I go out and kill a mammoth and bring it home. My wife cooks the mammoth. You figure the percentage of effort required).

Ouch, why does this thread hurt so much?

Since I'm unable to work I can't get permission to buy anything. Fortunately, while I was working I bought at least two of everything I'd ever want.

Just Big Brother if it's going through a FFL holder, otherwise I buy what I want. But, just to be on the safe side, I keep my wife well stocked with gifts from Coach and Dooney & Bourke. As long as she gets something new now and again, she tends to ignore what goes in and out of the safe.:D

TICS

It says "Post Quick Reply" and then complains if it's too quick. Go figure...
