When did the change occur?

In 2008 I purchased a M&P15T model 811001 with the Troy rail, Troy sights, chrome lined barrel and 1/9 twist. Last year I purchased the M&P15T model 811041 with the Magpul sights, S&W rail and melanite barrel. Several months ago I purchased a M&P15T model 811001 and it was set up like the 2008 model with the exception that the rail was the new S&W rail instead of the Troy rail and a couple hundred dollars off of the 2008 price.

I asked about the changes on another forum and the conclusion was this was either a parts availability issue or cost cutting prior to introducing the model 811041 Tactical.

What do you all know about the changes?

Was aware of the change between the two model numbers, but have not heard of the older version having anything other than the Troy rail. Interesting.

I wonder if it could be some of what Dicks or others pulled off their shelves and some one else is getting them now ?

The ones Dicks had still had the 1:8 twist Melonite barrel, so these are something different.

Yes. The mother ship is outstanding for all kinds of things icluding this. My T is a 811064 1in8 5R
