When do you know something is a value?

It is my belief marriage is between a man and a woman. In order to legitimize a lifestyle with out negative connotation the term marriage equals equality for that life style. So call it what you well but don’t call it marriage. I don’t agree with certain view points and this often leads to we’ll just have to agree to disagree and maintain a semblance of civility. When you stand on principle you’d better be prepared to fall on the sword.

I think one of the problems we have in this country is that everybody wants to impose their views on everybody else. ... I don't care. Just leave me alone,

I agree with marine2541. The question asked and the person asking it had NO right to push his values on her. She answered "in her opinion". Are not all U S Citizens able to have their own "opinions"? As far as the questioner, he made a complete ass of himself, and does not deserve to be a Judge of anything.

Let 'em marry. And divorce. Custody battles, division of assest etc. More work for the attorneys, largest section of the yellow pages all over the country. I got other things to rent space in my head. Joe

To Jeb Stonewall.

Sorry Jeb. I have nothing against homo's who teach my children or coaching the footballteam.
Iff they are good teachers or coaches what is the problem?

That they are homo's wouldend say that they are childoffenders to.

My oldest son was just 5 years old when he went with a good friend of my a day out.
That friend is gay. I trust him.
My son is 18 now and has a girlfriend.

Where are you affraid off?

I am honoust when I say I hate if one of my sons would be gay.(they arnt) But it would be still their own choice and life.
Who am I to refuse their right on happyness.
But if they were gay and I was strongly against homos. Is that changing their feelings?
Arn't they homo's anymore?
No, the only thing was that I have had a very frightened kid who was afraid of me and for sure not happy. I don’t think I could live with that.

Seems you have no problems with the gays.

BUT YOU SURE WOULD HATE IF YOUR SON WAS GAY!
Why is that?

Marriage is a religious ceremony where one woman and one man are united. Homosexuality, according to the bible, is a sin. An earlier post stated that the government should stay out of it. I sorta see the point, but like it or not, we are a Christian nation. Our laws are based on biblical law. Freedom of religion simply means that christians will tolerate people of other faiths. It does not mean they will accept their beliefs as their own.

I agree that we started as a Christian nation and our laws are based on biblical laws but freedom of religion does not mean that Christians will tolerate people of other faiths. Freedom of religion means that the government will not impose any religion on it's citizens. The Bill of Rights was all about protecting the people from the government. These people knew full well from history what happens when a government imposes a national religion on the people. That being said I have 2 points about this topic.

First, what does it say about our country when anyone even cares what that sissy Perez Hilton says about anything. What has he ever done to deserve a forum to spout his views. The American public has given him this celebrity and a forum and I think that is sad.

Second, Marriage is very much a religious act. The Bible is clear that God created marriage to join a man and a woman in a holy union between them and God. When government got in the marriage business it got corrupted like everything else that government touches. We are at a point now that not even the most immoral and degenerate places in history reached. The Roman Empire was basically a free for all where anything went, just watch the movie Caligula. Even they didn't sanction marriage between men. Again it is a sad state we find ourselves here in America. We are going down the toilet and this country will implode from within just like the Greeks and the Romans.

The sacrament of marriage long antedates the modern concept of fringe benefits, yet the main argument for recognizing same sex unions is to obtain either government or employer provided
benefits. Hence same sex union IMHO have no more validity that "green card" marriages or the sham marriages engaged in by military personnel to obtain the benefits the US military
provides for maried personnel. In 1966 there was a comedy on TV called "Occasional Wife" where
an ambitious young executive convinces a friedn to pose as his "wife" so he can climb the corporate ladder.

HI Jeb,

That is simple. I am a bit oldfashion and like to see my grandchildren to grow up.

That is why I shall hate when my sons where gay.
(for the record they arn't)

That dont change's a thing on the fact that that is their own choice when they where gay.

Homo's cant help it that they are homo's.

If it was my son I should still love him and respect his life. Even I dont like it that he is gay. I have to deal with it then.
The mean thing is that they would be happy in their own life. That has nothing to do with my wishes.

Gregintenn.
That would be a childoffender in the first place and a homo extremist.
I do think that he wouldend be a teacher or coach in the first place.
But if he did as you told he gets serious pain.

Normal homo's dont like such animals ieder.
They are normal people who function in normal jobs. I dont care if the love one of their own sex. They respect my life to.

wheelgunner, I completely agree. I would even take it a step further and say that the government has no business issuing "marriage licenses." I believe that all couples, same sex or hetero, should only be able to form civil union according to the government. If a couple would like to get married according to their religious beliefs, it is up to them.

this would help the churches out by keeping the government out of their business (the side people often forget when talking about separation of church and state).

Your right on godlessgael. I said this for awhile now and it usually stuns people when they 1st hear. I'm catholic marrige is a hols sacrment in our church. With the so called seperation of church and state why do we have to go to the state to partake in a holy ritual / rite in my church? There are Episcopalions (spelling) churchs that will "marry" same sex couples. The only thing that stops it is govenrment again where they don't belong. Also the benefits for married people have to go that's mostly what's driving this "movement".
