When I Ain't Packin', I'll Jest Pack This'n,

Well the mail train ran yesterday and the final piece of the deal came together.

The older I get the lighter I'm pickin' my carry guns...

Had this here little Airweight 37 and a little Sunday go to meetin' leather rig.

Then, I just need some wood to fit my big ol' paw.

So, I dropped a line to Keith Brown and he fixed this ol' Lawman up with his best.


I carried this'n all yesterday evening and today...Jest like I ain't wearin' nothing at all. ~Smiley~

I guess second guns really ought to come first after all.

I'm not usually a big fan of nickel guns, but that one is a beauty, and the grips are simply magnificent! That leather ain't too bad neither!
 
I really like that rig. Those grips are outta this world! I sometimes carry this old 3" model 36. I am into light too.

Good lookin' rig. Those KB's are stunners. Nice work on the leather.

That sure is different than carryin' N frames isn't it?

Wow, those grips are sweet. What wood are they made from? How abt a pic of the other side. Thinking of a set of KB grips for my 2 1/2" 66 that I carry. Figure I use it a lot, I may as well put some nice grips on it. Larry
 
Keith44special, slickest pair of stocks I've seen on a J-Frame. I am going to have to give Mr. Brown another call. With the quality of his work, we gladly pay more than we use to pay for new guns. He truly is a master.

You're in good company. General Patton once remarked towards the end of WWII that carrying a full-size handgun all day was tiring; if you'll look at later photos, you'll see him carrying a Colt .380, appropriately adorned with inlaid ivory stars of his rank on the grips.
Your grips are less flashy, but good looking and obviously up to the task.

That's my rendition of the old style 1930s A.W. Brill...Been building a few for friends and neighbors here abouts.

A feller's bellygun ought to pair-up with his sidearm some way or another, right?

Beautiful work, Dave. I think your leather work exceeds A. W's originals.

I have a couple of Brill's that belonged to old 1930's Texas Lawmen.

The first was carried by my wife's grandfather who was a sheriff in east Tx. Shown here with his early ivory gripped 1911 .38 Super.

Thanks for posting the pictures Dave, you sure have an eye for setting up the shot. I always enjoy the photos of you leather work and it's a real treat to see my grips along with it. The two sets really go together well. GF, should Cokes for a J-frame actually be called Jokes, just a thought!

As usual my friend you have some great taste and know who to go to, to put it together. After waiting nearly 2 years for my custom dream holster and getting an expensive nightmare maybe I should have had you make one for me.
I am on the verge of having KB finally make me a set of grips for my old standby 29...just need to find gainful employment first

Thanks ol' Pard for the fancy grips...Worn 'em to court yesterday (both of them) kind slipped the little 'n crossdraw in the front, like I do.

"Them grips sure look good there." was the Bailiff's reply.

What a cool thread! Nothing better than good guns, grips and holsters photographed by people that know what they're doing.

Speaking of knowing what they are doing, Dave, I sure didn't know you were a master holster maker. I do like your style and have since the first time I met you. Always makes a gun show a little better when you are there.
