When Porsche 911 meet 10,000+ bullets

I'm afraid I couldn't shoot a Porsche, even a junker; I want one so bad I can taste it ... and I'll never afford it. Can't imagine how the car wasn't even good for parts.

that'd have been another instance of my 629 developing a 4000 pound SA pull.
dont think I'd have it in me to live gut it for a restoration either ... those things are known for not being mechanic friendly .. but I couldnt drop a hammer on her either

"So rather than spend more on the car than it was worth, it was nice of this particular owner to donate it to charity."

And it's not worth $20,000 anyways??? It costs that much to drop a new engine and transmission into a newer model 911??? I would think the wheels alone would be worth something. I'm at a complete loss. Shoot at a car because you have been cut off by one? Really? That's as STUPID of a comment as "guns kill people"... Why would I want to take out my wrath on a car when it's the moron behind the wheel that I like to put a dent in??? Seriously, I was cut off this morning by some wad in a BMW but it doesn't make me want to go cut a Beemer in half. It makes me want to find that guy at the next stop light and pull him out of his car. I would never do that, but it's soothing to think about. This is just not the kind of story we need to be putting forward as gun owners. I'm ashamed. :(

Eh, they don't make cars like they used to, do they?

I think I would have put in some cash for shooting that if it would have been an MG or Land Rover product (or any British-made vehicle for that matter...Bentley, Rolls, etc.)...for all the times I've had to work on them after they left me stranded somewhere. Heck I'd settle for a Lucas Electric poster as a target. :p

After all, isn't a 911 just a more expensive version of the K-car? :p I wish Red Green would mod a 911. :D
It isn't like they are committing heresy by shooting an American made tractor of any kind- that would make me mad.

"In this case, the charity is Commonwealth Second Amendment (Comm2A), a group dedicated to "bringing some sanity to Massachusetts gun laws."

Yup, they sure showed the anti-gunners who was sane.

Wow! Not my cup of tea, but..................anyway...............I guess charity is good.

It's Your Porsche... Do what you want....

Hey! Why Not? Afterall, Guns don't belong is safes and Cars don't belong in garages right? ... I mean afterall, I'm a Shooter, Not a Collector..... :)

The amount of rounds hitting the ground in the video was amazing. I'm not the greatest shot around by any means, but I think I could hit a car! A good friend of mine owns a Porche, I think I'll e-mail him that link.:D

The car was at 100 yards and there was everything from handguns to full auto and first time shooters to experts. It wasn't surprising that a lot of round hit the ground. Better low than over the berm. My wife and I had a great time shooting it up.

As an owner of a hobby car and an owner of several guns it kinda seems like a waste of steel & lead to me... Later, Dave

I have driven 911's for years. I have an 1984 Carrera, which I bought new 27 years ago and can't seem to let go, and a new 2011 GTS. The comment about Porsche drivers in the linked article is stupid. Porsche drivers do not "cut other drivers off" simply because no one wants to put a 150K$ car at risk. The biggest problem Porsche drivers have is being cut off by jerks in lesser cars who seem to be intent on showing that their car can out pace the Porsche.

Isnt the 911 a hemi in a way, so shouldnt they all be treated with the same respect as hemi mopars?

Love it or hate it this particular shoot has gone viral. Not only viral, it's global now. The UK Sun ran an article on it yesterday. Some say it creates a bad image, but I would have to disagree. Who here hasn't gone to the range and shot something up. Sure, there are a few hold outs that only shoot paper. That's great for them, but most shooters I'm betting enjoy something reactive to shoot at. Hence you have Trap, USPSA, IDPA, etc'. Different game, but same mentality. Antis will rail against all of them with equal vigor. This particular shoot had over 140 shooters of all ages. A number of them, who were new shooters, thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are now shooters for life. Isn't that really the end game? Get more shooters involved in the sport that will help support our agenda for the long haul? I was there at the shoot, I send a good amount of lead downrange and it was an awesome time. Northeast Shooters have events like this 3-4 times a year. This time it was a Porsche. Big deal. No different then any other shoot, except for the target.

From what I saw, there had to be some really lousy shots at that event; at least one or two guys were doing nothing but plowing up the ground

If you can't hit a car . . . .

There were plenty of good parts on that car, the tiptronic "automatic" transmission they referred to is worth a few thousand by itself. The guy may have gotten a tax break for the donation, but even with a toasted engine that car was worth a bunch. Kind of a dimwitted stunt in you ask me.

Urban Dictionary: fudd

Sir,

If you are referring to the first definition, and yes I had to look it up, then you are sadly mistaken. If you read my whole comment and that is your only conclusion, then so be it. But no, I don't think of guns as only meant for killing, only meant for hunting, or should be kept locked away. If you can only come to that conclusion from reading the comments that you quoted, then I'm scared to ask what fun acronym you would label yourself.

Bob
