Where are all the 617 Mountain Guns

Hello.
Over the past year I have been trying to put a Mountain Collection together. Some I have stumbled across by just pure luck and others were easily attainable. But I have to say that the 617-6 Mountain Gun is the hardest to find. I have talked to other forum members who have had them since they were offered by the company. Here are some pictures I have found on line that others were lucky enough to acquire. Anyone out there knows of a source or wanting to let one go to a good home please let me know.

S&W needs to substitute this barrel for the 4" full lug right now.

^^^ I fully agree. I never did like the "Python" barrel idea, even on a Python. Useless dead weight, as far as I am concerned. I like my totin' guns to be slim and trim.

Have always preferred the full lug. Looks a lot more manly to me. I never notice the weight being significantly different. YMMV!

I don't care for the un-fluted cylinders either, for that matter and for the same reason (useless dead weight), but a lot of them are sold to folks who do like them. I will give S&W credit for providing a variety of options (including barrel profiles) over the years. Now if they could just eliminate any unnecessary holes on the side.

I'm fine with full lugs on four inchers. I don't care for it on longer barrels.
...Kinda think the "Mountain gun" name should be reserved for guns greater than 40 cal.

I got to meet a S&W rep at my local LGS and mentioned the scandium 17/617 I keep waiting for . He kept talking the M&P line and all it's variations . Then he told me about the 617 4&6" full lugs. I said I have one and I think they should make a non full lug again and he said they do a blued one . I again replied I have three and told him to look at the forums and sales of the mountain gun and how fast it went out of stock . He didn't seem to interested but he did acknowledge the idea more when I asked if S&W pays attention to customer input . Oh well , I wonder what the first one listed on an auction site will go for ?

Here's a link to the only one I know that has sold since the lucky few bought their's back in April 2016. Not sure there has been enough publicity about them to drive prices on the auction sites so suspect many folks wouldn't know what it was if one came up for sale.
