I am down to my last 100.

These are the swaged ones that come from Remington in bulk and most shops/suppliers just divide them up.

However, my local supplier isn't carrying them anymore!

I load them to duplicate the factory #R38S12 so I can practice with them, which is close to the old "FBI load."

I have plenty of other stuff to load, so I'm no where near hurting, but I didn't plan on this. I really liked this bullet because it is so soft. Any suggestions?

Calll Midway about the Remington bullets in their listings. Their Remington 148 gr. LWC listing does not state that it is the hollow base version but that's what was shipped.

I've never seen the Remington 158gr LSWC-HP bullets for sale, but I've loaded a lot of the Speer version. Their new "non-sticky" lube is great! Hornady also has a 158gr lead HP, but I've never tried it. MidwayUSA has them backordered here:

MidwayUSA - Speer Bullets 38 Caliber (358 Diameter) 158 Grain Lead Semi-Wadcutter Hollow Point
MidwayUSA - Hornady Bullets 38 Caliber (358 Diameter) 158 Grain Lead Semi-Wadcutter Hollow Point Box of 300

and MidSouth has them on backorder here:

Midsouth SPEER BULLETS 38 CAL .358 DIA. 158GR SEMI WAD CUTTER HOLLOW POINT 500 PER BOX
Midsouth HORNADY AMMUNITION AND RELOADING 38 CAL .358 DIA 158GR SEMI WAD CUTTER HOLLOW POINT LEAD BULLET 300 PK

May I suggest that you place some on backorder? They'll come in eventually, and they're well worth the wait...

Is "Alexanders" where you can't get them anymore?

Buy a copy of Shotgun News. One of the advertisers who takes out full-page ads used to sell cases of Remington 158 grain lead bullets.
I think I saw them fairly recently.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but "Alexanders Store" !! Wow I haven't been there in two years but I used to love to go in there some years back-nice place, beautiful country!

It's changed a bit if you haven't been there in a while.

If you ever head up this'er way, let me know.
If enough in advance, I'll meet you at the range on Brasstown Bald. ;)

I called Black Hills Shooter's Supply...they have them on back order (surprised!?).

Here's their number. (800) 289-2506 They do not charge shipping or tax so look at their prices to see if they are in the market.

If you have a C&R, they will sell to you. If not, I'll be glad to try to help you out.

Another soft bullet that I use....Zero Swaged 158gr LSWCs...Love 'em! Got them through Powder Valley and Roze Distribution in the past.

Here's the rub with that particular bullet. I cast my own now, but mine aren't anywhere as soft as these swagged ones.

It is the only one that identically duplicates the look of a factory load, because it is the same bullet.

I'm going to order, I mean backorder some of them.

Go to the scrap yard!

Andy,
If you want them softer, try stick on wheel weights. Or go to the scrap yard and pick up some lead pipe if they have any.

What are you looking to load them in? Are you going to push them hard or from a short barreled firearm. If you are going to use them in a snubby, I can understand why you want them softer.

Another vote for Missouri Bullet Company. I just ordered 1000 (2 boxes) of the 158 lswc .357 (Brinell 18) for $66.85 which includes the shipping. It's not what you were looking for, but it's a low-cost, quality alternative if you can't get those Remingtons.
