Open is telling people more than they need to know

I carry concealed. How many and where -- not saying. We carry our money in our wallet or a clip, and we don't put it out in the open to help others figure out a plan of action against us.

Those who flash the gold Rolex, glass cutting diamond ring or cash make their own choices. I do too. How many and where -- not saying.

Why the OC is sitting outside the store being harassed by the police or whoever it may be. The conceal carry guy is in the store getting his groceries with his family. Conceal carry guy walks out, opens a bag of chips and his cola. Stands there and watches the OC guy go through the ringer for about 30mins.......Ahhh yes the joys of conceal carry.

Out of sight, out of mind.

This is my opinion of some of the local open carriers.

I have purposely taken the time to understand open carry and why some do it. I've learned that the reasons all seem to be the same.

"Because it's legal"
"To educate others"
"Faster draw"
"Can't conceal my gun"

And in talking to these people I have learned that those that do so for the above reasons know nothing about mindset, situational awareness, and tactics. I think the reasons given are an excuse because they don't want to admit the real reasons they do so. Because they thinks it's cool, makes them more of a man, or they simply want the attention.

A mature responsible man takes the commitment to self protection and the protection of his loved ones seriously. He's not concerned about educating others. He simply goes about his business as a normal responsible citizen. He doesn't draw attention to himself and would rather be unnoticed. And he is properly prepared to defend himself and others.

We live in the "look at me" generation as evidenced by the ultra loud music and 33" tires and wheels. But drawing attention to yourself while carrying a gun is wrong for many reasons.

NC is an either or State. Which is the best of both world's to me. It's means you can CC almost everywhere. The bonus though, is the fact that if the gun prints or someone's shirt rides up over the gun accidentally it might mean a conversation, but no one is going to arrest you, unlike a quite a few other States. I'm in constant amazement when I read stories about someone being arrested in FL because their shirt rode up or in MA where even off duty LE is discouraged from carrying.

As for the "best" choice, I go with George Strain, you've got to have "an Ace in the Hole", why give away they fact you carry?

I conceal carry cos I don't want people to know what I got. I live in a state where I can openly carry, but why advertise? Why tell the neighbors I have a gun? So they can break in when I go to church and steal it? Not saying they would, but why give them the choice? I know there are drug addicts that live in the apartment complex that could take notice and I am well known, especially if I open carry and some kid says 'I know a guy thats got a gun.' Plus with all the kids around here, I don't want hassles with parents and cops, no matter it is legal and even my right.

The last time I open carried (OC) was 1997, and I was wearing a police uniform. I've never OC since and never will. Others can do as they see fit and I support their right to do so, just not my idea of a good thing to do.

Although Alabama has an open carry law, I would rather not have anyone know that I am carrying. About the only time that I carry open is when I am in the woods hunting or fishing.

I "open carry" On my way to/from work. Have my revolver tucked into my waistband while I drive. I support those who actually open carry as long as they do it intelligently. Know where its going to cause problems and hurt OUR cause by stirring up ****. As long as people who are open carrying keep it classy panic will be less.
