Where do you cast your bullets?

I melt WW on a grill on my back deck, with a fire resistant splash guard on the deck. I take my time and avoid spills.

I cast in my attached garage, leaving the double-wide entry doors wide open and the door to the house closed. I place a powerful pedestal fan near my casting bench to exhaust any fumes to the great outdoors.

From what I understand, the dangerous stuff is the gray powder that I skim off after fluxing. I'm careful to scoop that off to the side and pay attention when disposing of it.

I cast in a shed out back. I leave the door open when melting wheel weights and stay outside until it stops smoking and the smoke has cleared from the shed, then I skim and flux and cast. I don't go in there when it is smoky.

Ive got a shop seperate from the house that has a rollup door i leave open when casting with fan to draw fumes out, I smelt the lead outside. Important detail is to be sure no water gets into the pot, it will turn to steam instantly and cause the lead to spray everywhere.

I've been casting since 1958. Over those years, I developed a simple hood arrangement with an exhaust fan with parts mostly from Lowe's. It could be moved and adapted to the many locations of my career. Currently, I use a range hood that came from a flea market. The important thing is to vent everything away from you. My last lead test was normal.

No. Casting temperature is well below the temperature at which lead vaporizes.

I cast in the garage, no issues other than flux smoke. A range hood vent over the casting bench would help that a ton. Maybe my 2013 resolution, but I have been castin there as is for 20yrs now. My lead levels are quite low. Just practice good hygiene, stay out of indoor ranges. Your at greater risk there.

LAH Do you connect that exhaust fan up to anything?

That photo appears to be a MAGMA ENGINEERING 40 pound bottom pour pot.

The squirrel cage fan is to COOL THE SPRU before cutting and dropping the cast bullets.

I cast outside my garage. No problems with fumes.

In the basement. No ventilation other than maybe opening the outside door if the weather's nice. This lead exposure concern is way overrated, assuming you use some common sense.
