Where Eagles Dare, movie, now, TCM

We used it as a reference to killing in movies. When someone mentioned how great a movie was the comeback line in the family was "Clint Eastwood killed more in Where Eagles Dare".
Work had dispatch radios and I always said my last day I was going out by wandering into Dispatch and using the old mike to say Broadsword calling Danny Boy. I transferred out and retired in a different area of the company.

"Where Eagles Dare" is a decent movie worth watching. Far better than any of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns.

I respectfully disagree.

The Man With No Name trilogy were classics IMHO.

But it's comparing apples to oranges.

Low budget Italian production company filming in Spain with otherwise unknown (at least in the USA) actors vs. a big budget Hollywood movie with big star power, lots of stunt work, and a location in snowy Austria.

I submit both are great, but very different genres.

All of Alistair MacLean's stories featured plot twists, sometimes many of them. Other books of his that became movies were Breakheart Pass, and Ice Station Zebra, and The Guns of Navarone...

Breakheaert Pass was ine of Bronsons better movies and Guns of Navarone is a great flik. Loved both them. Have Guns Of Navarone on DVR.

One of Clint's better movies (at least to me) is Tightrope and for some reason they rarely play it. Another one of his rarely played movies it Eiger Sanction.
