I can't store it, that's dangerous! Those bullets could just leap into a gun and kill someone!
I buy my bullets one box at a time just before I go shoot. Then I keep them in the trunk in a locked box on the way to the range...
Labeled .50 cans take up the bottom third of a closet, miscellaneous boxes take up the top shelf of my "gun" closet, and there's always a random assortment in the range bag, in the truck, on the living room floor, on the bedroom floor, in the safes, on the kitchen table...
We're hopefully buying a house soon and I'll be able to organize it all a bit better.
I would suggest a safe if you don't have one. It keeps your ammo all in one spot and should defeat any smash and grab types. It is nice to have one that is big enough to store some of your household valuables in also if you go on vacation or something. Catalog and photograph everything that goes in the safe for insurance purposes.
I recently moved all 10,500 rds of my ammo from the closet to the safe.
I didn't post the numbers to try and show off. I only wanted to illustrate how much stuff you can fit in a 59 x 32 x 21 safe. I'm sure that compared to some of you guys I only have "a few spare rounds".
Another benefit is the safe will now be much harder to move.
