It is already hot as heck here in SW Florida. I just bought 16 lbs of powder and my garage is not air conditioned. My wife does not really complain but I am sure she does not like it in our bedroom closet.

Would keeping it in a cooler out in the garage help at all or would it just take longer to get hot and then stay hot longer?.

Maybe a wine cooler??

90 dergee heat will not hurt it.

store it under a bathroom sink inside the airconditioned house if you dont have a basement.

excess heat will cause breakdown of the powder, it will start to smell like ammonia. that's why the military records the temperatures inside it's ammo depots.

I live in the same climate as you, and don't worry about it. Now, brass turning green overnight bothers me. My dies rusting while I watch bothers me. My powder does fine, although Winchester primers with that brass finish look pretty funky after a while.

If your garage is like mine here in Arkansas, I would not store powder there. With both cars inside and 95 degrees outside it is a lot hotter than 95 degrees inside.

Get you an old refrigator, put in your garage. I have stored my primers and powder and shells in one for over 30 years. I have some 4350 and 4831 that is over 30 years old and still shoots fine.

Yep, I am going to do that. I declare/enact home rule and I am taking over my daughters closet. Why in the world does she need that many clothes anyway?? They can go in the garage!

I live in Arizona where it sometimes gets as high as 115 degrees in my garage. I'll be moving my powder and primers into the house soon, even the bullets.

What about those primers? Not that I have many left

Someone told me that they can withstand heat a lot more than powder. Is that true?
Do primers need a cool space also?

Having lived in Ft Lauderdale from 84 to 95, I stored all my ammo and powder in the hot garage. I'm Not doing that again.

Ammo loaded with ball powder did fine...ammo loaded with stick powder (DCM 30-06) was erratic when shot. Nothing dangerous that I could tell, but it seemed to have some extreme spreads by the time I moved to Atlanta and could stash it in a basement.

if heat would ruin powder, i would not have any. KEEP OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT.

I store ammo, powder, and primers in the garage, ammo and primers in sealed military ammo cans.

I live in Oklahoma, winters have been rather mild and summbers get up to 100. Temp in the garage probably runs 35 to 100 in the summer.

I've stored lots of ammo both factory, reloads and surplus military. I've done this for over thirty years and have never had a problem.

I have some DCM .30-06 from various years and plants. I've never seen it deteriorate. I've even got some old surplus foreign military that dates back to the 30's. It works fine too.

If it were mine, I just wouldn't worry about it.
