Hey guys...I lost a tiny roll pin on my 442-2 that holds the spring loaded cylinder alignment pin in the lug under the barrel. The alignment pin mates up with the tip of the ejector rod when the cylinder is closed. I have the alignment pin and the spring, but where can I get another roll pin? I tried Brownell's but they don't list anything. Can't find any other references on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most hardware or farm supply stores will have asortments of roll pins.

Dennis.

Look again at Brownells under Schematics>J-Frame 42/442.
I believe it was in stock too.

Unless I am misunderstanding you or unless Smith changed their pin type (all my Smiths are Pre-1996), the pin you are looking for is not a roll pin, it is a retaining pin and can be made from drill rod rather easily.

You are correct, Chief. Having never noticed the silly thing when I still had one, the missing pin is indeed a "retaining pin," not a roll pin as I had first suspected. I ordered a couple of them from Brownell's (thanks, yeti) and should have them in a few days. Once in hand, is there a trick to installing it, or any special tools required? Thanks, guys.
