Where to get S&W Factory Rubber Grips?

I have a set of the #1 on both a 431PD and a 432PD, and as much as I don't like rubber grips these are the best fitting most comfortable boot grips I have ever used.

justBrian,

Thanks. The ones you ordered are the #1's, the boot grips. They are excellent; I have a set on my 642. They are the only ones that I see on the S&W Store's web page, among these four types of factory original-equipment rubber grips identified in this thread.

I ordered a set of #4 grips from Numrich's (GunPartsCorp), part number 1684980, used. They only had one pair!

Would like to find a reliable source for the other types. I don't know the company that makes them for S&W, but I think they are better than S&W realizes and they would sell. (I also think there are a lot of them in boxes in the bottom of closets, as people take them off to put nicer looking wooden grips on their revolvers). For function, the factory rubber grips can't be beat (Hogues are great too, and many people like them, but I prefer the slightly trimmer looking factory grips).

Actually, they are the #3s--and they feel great! I needed the extension for my pinky. And the added length doesn't seem to make that much difference in conceal-ability, either.

I noticed that I particularly liked the new factory rubber grips that S&W was using when I bought my 4" and 3" 686+s.

So, I am certain that in two seconds I can find these two sets of rubber grips:

The gun is gone so I know I have these lying around and I might have an original set of J-frame rubber stocks around as well because I took them off my M642 - unless those boot grips came off the 642 - I am uncertain.

In case someone needs such things. ;)

Those two sets that you took off are better than the ones you
put on IMHO. They are Spegel designed Uncle Mikes from
Butler Creek. I still have the boots, but the combats got away
from me on a trade. They occasionally pop up on ebay.

Oh boy...from my perspective, I think it's going to depend on the gun.

I have a 686+ 2.5 inch Round butt that came with the factory Smith rubber grips...and I thought they were just absolutely disgusting. It was like holding a brick with a broom stick sized doweling shoved through a hole in the brick. I couldn't handle it. I looked all over for a wood substitute and couldn't find anything decent at the time so I bought the Hogue finger groove round to square but conversion. Last week I was at my local gun store and they had a round butt wood combat grip that I'm thinking of going back to buy for this gun. It's just a matter of preference.

I would check consignment websites (eBay, gunbroker, etc.) as well as local stores that consign guns (not necessarily pawn shops), and other similar places for what you're looking for. I've learned over the years that sometimes keeping things stock saves value so my pair sits in a rectangular blue box and will until the gun is either re-sold or passed on.

With relation to my comment about being gun specific - I still have the original grips on my Smith 340 M&P and can't find anything superior - and I've tried various options...can't beat the stock ones.

I bought this 686+ and was going to get wood grips...but took it shooting first and I found out that as a shooting grip I liked it better
