Which 29-2 would you choose ??

To me it depends on what you want it for. Nickel guns sure are purty, and the finish is usually fairly durable. I, like many others, am partial to the blue.

You didn't mention serial numbers, how old they might be, what kind of grips are on them, and if they have their original box an papers. If all the goodies were with one and not the other, I'd choose the one with the goodies. If however, one was wearing Cokes and the other not, I'd go with the Coke gun regardless of the extras.

Ether one will be a great choice! Pics required after you buy!:D

I thought I was going to get to pick a 5" blue 29-2. I have a 6 1/2" blue, a 5" 29-4 Classic, and a 6" 629, so I'm good. You couldn't go wrong with either. Bob!

6" inch Nickel all the way.You can actually shoot the nickel gun. With the blued gun every time you holster it,shoot it,wipe it off the bluing will degrade. With the Nickel gun you can just lightly polish it and it will be like new.

I really dislike the looks of nickel, so I would opt for the blue...and I did!

I vote for the blue also!

Here's a picture of two of my S&W's, a NIB 29-2 and a very slightly used 629-1.

Add me to the 6 1/2" side. That's the one I've looking for and will buy once the opportunity presents itself. ;)

Thanks for the advice guys. l have chosen the 6 1/2'' blue. Upon a closer examination the trigger and action on the blue is smoother than the nickel. Also l was mistaken by the serial #s being close. Blue is N75,000. The nickel N780,000. lt would be nice to have both, but the nickel will go to another guy. lts interesting the smooth trigger was added to the nickel gun because the original grooved trigger is included with it. l dont care too much for target triggers, wide or smooth.
lf l could just figure a way to get those smooth grips..
Thanks again for your time and input

As a young man I had 2 Model 29-2's, 6" and a 6.5" in Nickel. With kids money was always tight, I let both get way.

In the past year I found a 6.5 Blue with presentation case and tools, no papers. It had the appearance of not being shot, I changed that. I'm really glad I found my "new" 29-2 in blue. It looks very nice. I feel it has a classic look with the S&W deep blue.

But if I had found a Nickel 29-2 first I would have been just as happy.

So you have to ask your self, self did I just fire 5 or 6 in my blue or Nickel S&W? This is a S&W 44 Magnum, deciding which one to get will blow your head clear off.......

If they are next to each other one has to grab you more than the other. Once you make the choice do not look back with regret, clean it, oil it, shoot it, clean it, shoot it... Love it. The truth of the matter is, either is very nice and will be a prize.

I have both but if I had to pick one I pick blue. That was my first 29-2 that I bought a year ago.Now it seems like every time I help my buddy out at the gun shows I end up another smith of some kind. Not complaining just saying. Check out my pics in my collection in my profile. The 629 was my latest purchase in Denver.Good luck

Tough choice. Nikel if in good shape. Blue is 'a dime a dozen'

Condition is everything! That said, nothing you shoot wold know the difference.

Get the one that turns you on and dont let any of us influance you on this.
