I have ZERO experience with .32 ammo that isn't ACP...
A buddy of mine has the revolver below and I was going to get him a couple boxes of ammo as a gift. This is the only shot I have, so I don't know what the other side of the barrel says. What does this one use?

Like Les said, go with .32 S&W Long. It's available in several varieties, Round Nose Lead, Wadcutter, and even Jacketed Hollow Point. I would lean towards the RNL or WC's personally. :)

.32 S & W (also called the Short) is more expensive and difficult to find than the Long, so it's an easy decision.

Ammunition...the gift that keeps giving :). Thanks for being a good friend!

If you can find them, I'd go with wadcutters over lead round nose.

Wadcutters are better for target shooting, better for self defense, and better for hunting than round nose.

I reload for most of my 32 S&W Long shooting, but when I buy factory stuff it's usually for "social work" and so I get some of the JHP stuff from Georgia Arms. If I were going to buy factory ammo for recreational shooting, I would go with the basic round nose lead for economy's sake if no other. What I reload is mostly LSWC or HBWCs, but that is probably immaterial to the question at hand... you want stuff for basic range and fun shooting, right?

Here is a box of .32 S&W Long Wadcutters that are specially made for a LGS in my area. They also have a "Hardcast" load available, I believe it is 115gr. If I were going to use a .32 for defense these type of loads would be the only ones I would choose. Forget about hollow points or the standard lead round nose stuff for self defense in .32 S&W Long.

If you're interested I can send you the link to their shop and you can see if they will ship them to you.

I ordered a box each of Sellier and Bellot 100 grn wadcutters and PRVI LRN- the selection was pretty scarce at my go-to website. I will try to pick them up tomorrow. Thanks!
