What are some of the best values / deals you've run accross lately with new S&W revolvers?

The 442 Airweight "no lock" models going for $438-$450 then there's the $50 rebate on top of that.

Where are some other great deals you've seen recently?

Online location?

That is probably as good as you can get. For some reason, 642 is a few bucks cheaper. Go see Scott at Walden's on Gordon Hwy. He will treat you right and give you a fair price. He can also do transfers if you decide to buy on line.

Are you talking strictly from gun stores, or new S&W's from private owners? If it includes private owners there are a LOT of boards out there (such as this one) where you can purchase NIB or LNIB for much less than what a gun shop could normally sell it for.

The 640 that I plan to pick up Saturday is from a private owner. I'm buying it NIB (only shot fired was the factory round) for $460 with two grips (the square type and the full sized). I think that is a good deal.

My 642 was LNIB and I got it on trade for a Glock 19 that I got for $400.

When did Walden's move to Gordon Hwy?

The no lock 642 has got to be one of the best deals going........

Dennis.

I checked with them not too long ago, along with American Sportsman, too. Their S&W inventory was very limited....although most had the M&P and Airweights.

You're right about Scotty, though. He knows the business and Eddie Walden is great to deal with. Super combination in a local store.

My local Ma/Pa shop, aka 'the S&W pusher's lair', has the 642 at $399 - then the rebate - good price!

Last time I checked, Bud's had some no-lock 442's for $438 shipped. With the $50 rebate, that's a little over $400 (with FFL fee) for a brand new Airweight out the door. I see used ones going for that around here!

That's exactly where mine came from!!!!

Is the only difference between the 442 and 642 the blued vs stainless finish?

I picked up a NIB 442 and NIB 642 with Crimson Trace 105 grips for $850 a couple of weekends ago. Both are (were) NIB and shoot GREAT. Plus both are pre-locks. Also found used (not abused) Safariland speedloaders for $3.00 each. I bought all six that the seller had.

That's not bad at all!!!!!

It's $50 cheaper than I've seen absolutely anywhere and the second best price I've seen is quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else as well. Tremendous deal.

Well, pocket guns are 'must haves' - we'd have one whether it was a deal or not.

Now, I still maintain - for pure plinking fun - a 4" 617 - whatever the price - is a bargain. For centerfire, it's a tossup - the 627 Pro can launch .357M's or wimpy plinker .38's. The 625JM takes .45 ACP - frugal big-bore fun - and you can buy 'em anywhere - even on a Sunday. Both revolvers come with a great mix of extras at a more than fair price - considering!
