I have slightly large hands.

So I've been using the medium backstrap on my M&P fullsize. I've been trying to shoot better so I switched to the large grip, which felt slightly too big but I shot with it anyways. I didn't really notice any improvement.

So just for the heck of it, I tried the small. It feels really good in my hands, almost more like a 1911 than a double stack polymer gun. I haven't shot it at the range like this yet, but it got me thinking.

What size hands do you have and which backstrap do you prefer?

Thanks!

I perfer the medium one but everyone's hand size is different and only you will know which one is better for you.

I use the medium on my .45C. I have average hands and long fingers. Feels the best for me.

I have big hands - size 20 ring. I shot best with my .45c using the small back strap. I like being able to wrap my fingers around the gun for control during rapid fire. Just have to be aware of not putting to much finger into the trigger.

I too have fairly large hands & use the small back strap on my 40C. It just feels right.

The medium on both my 9 and 40 . I tried the small and it felt good also but went back to medium and put a Talon on my 40 because the grip was a little more slick then my Pro 9 .

I use the backstraps to adjust where my finger lands on the trigger. I want the pad of my trigger finger to be centered on the trigger. For me this was the large backstrap. The medium feels more comfortable but I'm more accurate at speed with the large. Just my way of doing it. :D

For me some reason my groups are better/tighter with the edge of the trigger a little closer to the joint "pviot point" on my trigger finger vs the traditional area centered on the pad of my trigger finger .

Another large hand, small back strap fan. Even though the Medium seems like it would be the correct choice for me it just doesn't feel right.

The only way to describe it is like having a shoe with the correct size but with the wrong width.

The grip panels on my 945-1, the factory ones felt too thin, I bought a set made by Hogue and sold by Speed Shooter Specialties. They are only 1/16" thicker per grip panel, but they feel a world of difference.

I suppose that is one of my concerns with the small one. It feels better but doesn't mean ill shoot it better. Will be interesting to see how it affects my ability to recover the recoil and I will have to watch how much finger im giving the trigger.

i use the med grip on my 9c as that feels the best and allows me to focus on the shots more than the hold (i tend only to use the fs mag and adapter as well). I never really spent much time trying different backstraps with the compact mags to see if a change there could have helped my hold/accuracy with those... and as I type this i realize that's something to test out at the range....

Small with the Pro model stippling. I have fairly large hands but the Small feels the best to me. Closer to a 1911 feel.

I've tried all three backstraps & I'll be darned if I can find a difference. I've settled on the medium. My hands are medium-sized & that's the only reason I use that size.

I have the medium on my Pro, then took the small Pro blackstrap and put it on my full size M&P. I have medium hands.

^^^This. And I thought it was just me! lol

Large hands but small backstrap. For me the smaller palm swells felt better.

I shot abt the same with all 3.

Big hands, small backstrap

I have big hands, and the large backstrap felt most comfortable. It seemed to line up the pad of my trigger finger best with the trigger.
However I control the pistol better and shoot more accurately with the small backstrap. This seems to be true for all 3 of my M&Ps.
Go figure...

the only one I have change to a small one was on the .45, all others are as they came medium, I suppose, but use what you like or feels better.

I'd say I have medium size hands but prefer the small back strap. Like you it feels more like my 1911.

I just picked up Pro 5" today and the medium feels like my M&P22. I will try that for now.

I have large hands. I usually have to buy XLarge gloves. Even so, I like the small back strap. My wife, who has small hands, likes the large back strap. Go figure.

Me too.

Large for the same reason.

If I'm standing there in a lane, then the medium.

However, out of the holster I find with the small comes out and naturally fits me my hand and points a bit better.

I think the 1911 comparison is bang on the money - same grip angle, so a smaller grip will feel more natural to a 1911 guy or gal.

I have large-ish hands and the small feels the best to me, with the medium being a close second. Didn't like the large at all.
