Hi, guys.
I keep reading about certain heat treated "components" of the K-Frame .357 variants of the Model 10-6 / Model 13 and I'm curious whether the frame itself was ever heat treated?
Or if it is just the barrel and cylinder for instance?
If the frames were never heat treated, and just the barrel/cylinder were, is it conceivable to rebarrel / recylinder a .38 special 5 screw/hand ejector/victory/M&P/Model 10 variant with the .357 barrel/cylinder from a model 13 and have it be the same gun as a .357 10-6/13 for all intents and purposes?
Obviously, this is a very generalized question. I realize there would need to be an appropriate selection of compatible parts from the right models, and proper fitting done to make it all work correctly, but it should be doable, right?
Thanks for any insights and experience with creating a Model 10-ish .357 Frankengun
Erik
P.S. I should mention, the K-frame I have in mind as a platform is a cruddy Nickel plated Victory model of little to no collector's value.
