For those of you purchasing an extra mag for your Shield 9mm, are you buying the flush mag or extended mag? Wouldn't the extended mag be a better buy? Can wear the flush when carrying, and have the 2 extended as backup. What do you think?

That was my thinking too. Got extended mags for range and backup, use flush for better carry concealment.

Got two 7 rd mags & the one 8rd. When the demand dies down I plan to pick up another 8rd. I like to have at least 4 mags for my handguns. I carry with with the 7rd.

I might just wait to demand dies down too. I'd like to see the price below $30 got the mag. I bought a speed loader which helps a lot at the range.

I was thinking carry with 7 rd mag , then have at least 2 8rd mags extra for back up and range time. I just purchased an 8rd mag from Greg Cote. I may by another later if prices go down, but I'm covered for now.

I think one has to factor hand size in to the equation. I have glove size XL hands and thought the 8-round (9mm) would be the logical choice. I've never liked the dangling pinky on small autos and it has kept me from owning certain guns, but a comment from YouTube sensation Hickock45, who is something like 6' 8" and has giant paws, made me rethink my logic. He commented that he actually preferred the two finger grips on subcompacts.

When I got my Shield I looked at the issue a little closer. Turns out, if your hands are on the large size, the small diameter of the semi-staggered Shield mag well is a little too small. When you add the longer mag that allows the pinky to fit, you actually keep the middle and ring fingers from grasping as far around the grip, as is possible absent the pinky finger. You have to try it for the explanation to make sense, but this is why I like the 7-round mags better.

I have three 7rd mags and one 8rd mag. I use the 7rd in the Shield for carry and the 8rd in a Desantis mag packer as a back-up.

All my extra mags are 7 round.
I don't care for the 8 round mag at all, so it lives in the factory box.

and no... I'm not planning on trading it, so don't PM me. If/When I sell/trade my pistols, they have all the original equip.

I will ge getting another flush 7 round mag when I do end up getting another mag. I bought my Shield for CC and the 8 round just doesn't conceal all that well IMHO.
