Which mags do you prefer?

Which mags do you prefer? I know options are limited in the poll, so please specify brand/make in the comment area below. Included good and bad experiences.

My aluminum mags have worked fine but just aren't as refined, they are relegated to SHTF storage. Never had any steel ones.

I like using polymer mags better, they just seem to load and feed a bit smoother than metal types. I like the pmags because of their durability, the followers and the dust/impact covers. But I also like the Troy battlemags - they are a good durable polymer with good followers but also a bit slimmer than the pmags and the scaled grip on them is really nice.

For target shooting use I reach for the battlemag more, but have stocked up on Pmags because I do believe they are a bit more rugged.

Ruger is making a really nice all steel 30 round AR mag (well, C products is making it, but it is marked Ruger). That pricey HK all steel AR mag is nice too, if you can afford it.

I have some GI mags with Magpul followers, which I use mainly for the range. Those work very well. I much prefer the Magpul Pmags as they are durable, reliable, reasonably priced, and are true 30 round mags. Having the ability to hold 31 rounds, when loaded to the specified 30, they seem easier to seat in the rifle when loading. The other thing I like about them is they're quiet.

I have all Magpul mags but never had any problems with issued mags when I was in in the 70's still have some 20 rounder's around someplace with my jungle boots and combat fatigues. Guess maybe I should look for them one day.

Some polymer I love (pmag) and some I wouldn't give to an enemy.

Pmag's work for me here, and I also like some of the aluminum ones from Palmetto State Armory.

That's true, about an amount of vagueness. But there are so many makers of polymer mags, so many makers of aluminum mags, etc. Can't include all options.. So the comments area becomes space to specify, I guess

DSG Arms aluminum with Magpul followers. They may feel less refined than polymer but I think they feel stronger and wor just as well as PMags since they share the same innards.

Aluminum might "feel stronger" but I don't think it is. Heavier maybe, but not stronger.

Plus this and all of the associated videos. Might be biased because of the source, but still makes a point.

I just want to try 20 round steel(aluminum or reg steel). I am going to that indoor range down the road and see if they still have anything laying around.

We will see what holds up 5 -10 years down the road. The younger people like plastic. I still shoot steel mags made in the 30s. You cant repair plastic.

I have nothing but PMAGS. I have Gen M3 in 10, 20, 30, and 40. Most of mine are Gen M3. I do have some Gen 2 30s and 20s. No issues with PMAGs. I had three aluminum 30s. They failed to feed the last two rounds repeatedly. I shot them a few times and they are now in a land fill.

I have steel and poly, I was in the Marine Corps and they tried some aluminum mags....they sucked and went away...I really like my steel but I also have some Thermold 20's that I use more than any others, I bought them for $3.99 over a year and a half ago and the reviews were that they wouldn't last with the occasional review that said wow these things just keep on going. I keep them loaded -2 and are the first ones I reach for when I go to go shooting. My steel mags all have magpul followers. I have only shoot out of a pmag once although I recently just picked up 2-30's and 1-20...I am really impressed with the 20, I will have to try to pick up a couple more of them, use them with my new 300 blackout.... Bottom line ...steel!!

Not if u use them. I like Glocks but you don't see anyone shooting bullseye with them .

I don't get it. Polymer mags aren't going to rust. period. using them or not.

And Glocks are ugly.

I said I like them & my friends let me shoot theirs --but I don't like them enough to own one. All steel for me--I am too old to change.
