GARATE ANITUA Y CIA" means that it is a Spanish made copy of the S&W design, but NOT built by S&W. The "cia" means "company". I doubt that your revolver is chambered for the .357 Msgnum cartridge, even though it may chamber it. Many Spanish-made copies of the S&W were sold in the first half of the 20th century. Many are unreliable and unsafe with the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge. It might be a good idea to have a qualified gunsmith check it out for you before you fire it.

does anyone reconize the S&W model it was copied from? GARATE ANITUA Y CIA .38special swing out 6 shot double action 5" barrel square butt chrome or nickel finish.and number 3325 this has a large 3 with a 33 inside it.

The thing that scares me is that someone trusted that gun and fired it. Looks like a very poor copy of a 1905 and a 1899 M&P. Please don't shoot it.

According to one of my old reference books their quality ranged from poor to exceptional, depending on the intended market. They did make an excellent copy of the S&W M&P but it was an "exact" copy according to the book and your model isn't exact judging by the cylinder release set up. Does it say "GAC Firearms Mfg. Co." on the barrel?
