New owner of a Lnib M&P R8, but no moon clips. Do you like the S&W versions or do you prefer something else? I know that different moon clips work only with some ammo, but looking for advice, also not a competitive shooter only range and home defense.

You can use these sold thru midway USA. They fit a 627 and a 327.

The stock ones are ok, but if you buy these in bulk, I remember them being cheaper. Packs of 8 or 10. Can't remember.

Since these are not for competition then price can be the deciding factor. The Ranch Products moon clips are probably the least expensive quality clip available. You can purchase them directly from Ranch, or through Midway as indicated above. Go to Ranch Products website for their phone number. They don't do Internet sales, you have to call and talk to a real human being - old school.

Adios,

I endorse Ranch Products moonclips for your shooting use. The expensive clips are made to fit a particular brand of brass(some brass needs a thick clip(Starline) and Winchester needs a thin clip.

For casual non-speed shooting you don't need the clips at all. That's probably why you didn't get clips with the gun. A previous owner cast them aside.

Enjoy your gun.
