Can anyone recommend a mount and scope to get for a 686? I'm not sure where to even begin looking for the proper mount or proper eye relief red dot.

I believe the mount is a weaver 401 if your gun is factory drilled and tapped. as far as a red dot they are all pretty good as far as eye relief goes. just remember that the smaller the dot the more precise the shooting. I would recomend something with a multible dot where you can swith them around.

+1 on the B-Square. I have one and it works great. You don't need to be concerned about eye relief on a Red Dot. There is none to be concerned about. Use it at any distance.
