Apex kit? Have my local gunsmith put it in?

Send the pistol to Bowie Tactical Concepts? For their LX trigger?

Send it to Business End Customs for their trigger work?

What's your experience, recommendation or suggestion?
What worked best for you?

I would go with business end customs (Course i live only 30 minutes away) Lou has done trigger work on my 9c shield 9 and currently has my Glock 19. He does great work, Its resaonable priced and rather quickly done. I would give Lou a chance he will work on your existing trigger to smooth it out to a nice clean break/crisp

The way I see it ... There will probably be little difference between a gunsmith job vs apex. But with apex, you can return it to stock should you want or need to.

Do it yourself!

If you mess it up( you wont) you can buy a new part.

If you go slow, you can make it exactly the way you want

Look up burwell DIY M&P

My first one took about 1 hour

My second one less than 30 mins

Soooooooo easy...... And you will learn how the gun works.

I am told the M&P series is the easiest to work on.... I believe it

If i can do it..... So can you

The strong point of Apex is you can always go back.
A custom mod does not allow that.

I went to UPS to ship my pistol to Bowie Tactical to have the slide milled for an RMR, frame stippled, and a trigger job. When I found out it would cost $90 each way to ship my pistol I said screw that. I just sent the slide for milling and I put an Apex in my self. Much cheaper and as the others have said, you can change it back.

DIY Apex Kit. Installation is not as difficult as you might think, and after you're done, you know a lot more about your weapon. A big win/win.

You can buy a new sear from S&W. This way you can file on it all you want and if you don't like the results, just put the original back in.

I went the easy route and bought the Apex sear. Cost me about $40 and 10 minutes to install. Made a big difference.

I've never had a pistol apart but I've been looking at the Apex kit for my 9C. Half the reason I want it is for a good reason to tear it apart, the other is to get rid of the grittiness of the trigger.

Not true...... Its a part that sw sells.

Its not expensive

You WONT ruin it........ Go slow...... Fit often

Its very easy if you have a vise and even slight skills

Apex. Just do it and you'll thank me. Easy as pie and smooth like butter.

To quote a line from a movie: "None of the above."

An M&P needs a "trigger job" like a delivery truck needs a Recaro racing seat. I mean really - the M&P is not a match grade bullseye pistol.

Just use the money you would spend for a bunch of totally unnecessary parts/labor and buy ammo. Then go out and shoot the pistol. That will break it in and you will gets lots of practice in the process.

I have to agree. Take it out and shoot the living daylights out of it. Buff up the rough parts and remove any burrs. It's tons cheaper and you get to know your weapon much better. Get it broke in before you jump into all the "add in's",then see what you think.

This is what I was going to say.

I have to disagree, putting the DCAEK kit from apex in will immediately get rid of the grittyness. Apex says:

"The Apex Tactical Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit was designed to provide the M&P pistol owner a smooth, consistent 5 to 5-1/2 lb trigger pull with the advantages of shorter over-travel and a reduced reset."

After installing it in my 40fs I have found this to be true. The $100 is a bit high but for me well worth it, and as others have stated now I have excellent knowledge of how my handgun works.

Mine was great right out of the box. How about a fourth option? Just shoot it awhile and see if it doesn't smooth out on its own?

The Shield has a much better trigger out of the box than the 45C that I have.

If I only had the Shield, I probably would NOT have done any trigger work.

I wanted both triggers to have the exact same trigger pull weight.

The Shield out of the box is around 6 lbs
The 45C out of the box was around 7.5 to 8 and gritty

They both are at 4.5 ish now.

I would agree that not everyone HAS to get a trigger job on the Shield.

The 45C.......... It NEEDS it..... IMHO
