My Canadian correspondent is curious about the possible maker of a pair of white grips presumed to be a polymer of some sort that he's had for years.
They're mounted here on a pre-model 39 just for effect; they didn't come with the pistol. The 4 digit serial number letters to January, 1956.
Ajax and Eagle are the usual suspects. Any others?
UPDATE:
G has dug deeper in his files and found old catalog material from both Ajax and Altamont listing bonded ivory and real ivory grips with medallions.
(My guess - perhaps both from the same source, whoever and wherever that might have been.)
While we were digging, he confirmed Art Jewel - used by S&W on engraved guns - and there was a company with Ivory in the name: Boone Trading Company / Boone's Custom Ivory Grips, Inc., Brinnon, WA
